Cabinet Declares Special Holidays in Bangkok Metro on Sept 28-29 for Flood Relief
The Thai Cabinet declared September 28-29 as special public holidays in Bangkok and three surrounding provinces to help residents cope with flooding, while waiving expressway tolls through the evening of September 29.
The Cabinet has approved September 28 and 29 as special public holidays in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan, with free expressway access extended through the evening of September 29. Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Wachrapol Khaokham announced on Facebook that the special holidays aim to help residents manage the impact of flooding in the Bangkok metropolitan area and reduce their burden during the crisis. He emphasized that the government is prepared to monitor the situation and expedite solutions to minimize public hardship. The Transport Ministry has coordinated to provide additional convenience by waiving expressway tolls and assisting residents in Bangkok and surrounding provinces during this period of special emergency measures.
