Malaysian Embassy Issues Bangkok Flood Alert
Malaysia's Embassy in Bangkok warns its nationals to take precautions as heavy rain causes localized flooding across the capital and surrounding areas.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok has advised Malaysian nationals in or travelling to Bangkok to exercise caution amid ongoing rainfall and localized flooding in several parts of the capital and surrounding areas.
In an advisory, the embassy urged Malaysians to remain vigilant and monitor the latest weather, road and traffic conditions before travelling.
The embassy highlighted the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's online Road Flood Monitoring System, which allows the public to check road conditions and water levels at monitoring points across Bangkok. The monitoring map is available at https://floodbangkok.bangkok.go.th/, and users can use a browser's translation function where available.
Malaysian nationals can also report flooding or standing water through Traffy Fondue or contact the BMA Hotline at 1555, which operates 24 hours a day.
For travel information and assistance, the embassy provided the Tourism Authority of Thailand Contact Center at 1672 and the Tourist Police at 1155.
The embassy advised Malaysians to plan journeys in advance, check road and flood conditions before departure, allow extra travel time and avoid flood-affected areas. Travellers were also encouraged to consider alternative routes or modes of transportation where necessary and follow advisories issued by Thai authorities.
