Cabinet Designates Samut Sakhon Flood Disaster Area, Orders Car Lifts
The Cabinet has designated Samut Sakhon province as a flood disaster area and approved additional relief funds for Samut Songkhram. Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakul ordered the Transport Ministry to offer free vehicle‑recovery for flooded cars and the Education Ministry to repair water‑damaged vehicles, while streamlining aid procedures. The measures aim to speed up assistance nationwide.
At the Cabinet meeting on October 6, 2026, held at the Government House, spokesman Ekapop Prianpiset reported that prior to the agenda, officials discussed the nationwide flood situation and monitored progress on the Prime Minister’s directives for relief, rehabilitation and coordination among ministries. He said the Cabinet had resolved to allocate disaster‑relief funds for Samut Songkhram province because the flooding occurred before the new fiscal year, adding to the previous 4.7‑billion‑baht disaster‑relief budget approved on September 29 to ensure comprehensive assistance for all affected areas. News from the meeting noted that Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakul spent over an hour briefing the Cabinet on the national flood situation, stressing the need to look after flood‑affected citizens. Consequently, the Transport Ministry was ordered to provide free towing services for submerged vehicles, the Education Ministry was tasked with repairing flood‑damaged vehicles, and measures were instructed to simplify the relief application process for the public.
