CHACHOENGSAO — 7 October 2026, floodwaters in Bang Khla district remain high with no sign of receding, leaving some homes nearly submerged up to their roofs while some residents have chosen to stay behind rather than evacuate.

Reporters visited Bang Khla district in Chachoengsao province and found that floodwaters remained at a high level, with some houses almost completely submerged.

Some residents have already evacuated, while others remain concerned about their homes and have refused to leave. Some have been using pieces of foam as makeshift vessels to travel through the flooded areas.

The floods have also swept away shrimp and fish that residents had been raising. With the water carrying away their livestock, residents said there was little they could do except watch the flooding and wait for the water to finally recede.

Residents said they had never experienced flooding this severe before. They described this year’s flooding as particularly serious and devastating, although rescue workers from various agencies have continued to provide assistance and deliver food to affected communities.

Despite receiving help, residents said they were saddened to lose the shrimp and fish they had raised, which were swept away by the floodwaters.

Meanwhile, officials from various agencies continue to assist affected residents and monitor water levels closely to determine whether the flooding could rise further.

Deputy Interior Minister Defends Transfer of Prachin Buri District Chief

Deputy Interior Minister Pholphir Suwannachawi defended the transfer of Ban Sang district chief in Prachin Buri, saying it followed consistent reports from provincial and local officials about inadequate flood‑response performance. He said the move was his own proposal, not a directive from the Prime Minister, and noted that the district chief’s strong social‑media presence contrasted with weak fieldwork during the floods. Pholphir added that if investigations find no wrongdoing, the official could be reinstated and denied any political motive.
