Champion Superlek Relinquishes ONE Kickboxing Belt After Serious Injury
Thai kickboxer Superlek is relinquishing his ONE Championship flyweight belt following a severe ACL tear suffered in an August loss at Lumpinee Stadium, prioritizing recovery over competition.
Superlek, a 30-year-old Thai kickboxer and ONE Championship flyweight world champion, has announced he is relinquishing his title to focus on recovery. He won the ONE kickboxing flyweight belt (125-135 pounds) on January 14, 2023, by defeating Spain's Daniel Puertas on points. However, Superlek suffered a severe ACL tear during a second-round TKO loss to Abdullah Dayyakhaev at The Inner Circle event at Lumpinee Stadium on August 7, 2024. In a recent social media post, Superlek wrote: "A long fight, a belt held for so long—we must part ways officially now. If there's a chance, I'll come back for it. Thank you for standing by me all these years. Tomorrow is the end. Thank you to my body for fighting alongside me for decades through all these battles. After this, I ask to care for my body first, and then we'll come back to fight again, my friends."
