Classic Car Repair Dispute Resolved After Heated Confrontation
A car owner recovered his classic American vehicle after a year-long repair dispute when influencer Yai V10 intervened; the shop agreed to replace a non-conforming engine and compensate for missing parts.
A case that began with urgent pleas for help has now reached a peaceful resolution. On August 16, a young man contacted influencer Yai V10 after his classic American car stalled in repairs with a prominent automotive influencer. He had already paid 280,000 baht of the quoted 500,000-baht cost, yet after more than a year, progress had stopped and he had no idea where his vehicle was located.
Yai V10, acting with the car owner's authorization, traveled to the shop to track down and demand the vehicle. The initial atmosphere was tense, with heated exchanges as both sides explained their positions from different angles. The automotive influencer confirmed the car was not missing but stored at his shop. He explained the vehicle had been brought in on June 17, 2567, originally blue with no engine—just a frame. The agreement covered repainting it a custard color, installing a new engine and electrical system, and replacing all glass, with a repair cost of approximately 500,000 baht.
The customer originally wanted the car finished within three months, but upon arrival, it was discovered that nearly everything needed rebuilding. Time was extended, and the car was sent to a shop outside Phetchabun Province for internal systems work. However, disputes arose over timelines and concerns about legal involvement, leading the shop to cancel work and store the car at their facility.
During discussions, a critical issue emerged: the engine and parts did not match what was agreed. The mechanic explained that a Lexus engine had been discussed, but a Toyota engine was installed instead, claiming the customer had been informed. Additionally, some parts did not match the agreement, and several items had been sold off, making it impossible to return the original parts. Yai V10 demanded clarity on which parts were swapped, sold, or still owed.
Despite the initial heated confrontation, both parties ultimately found common ground. The atmosphere shifted from tense to friendly when Yai V10 and the automotive influencer embraced and committed to resolving the issue together. The shop preliminarily agreed to return the non-conforming engine and compensate for the difference. Yai V10 is currently evaluating the engine's value, missing parts, and other expenses to calculate the refund owed to the car owner.
Yai V10 concluded by saying his intervention was not meant to penalize the business but to ensure straightforward problem-solving. He confirmed his willingness to help both the car owner and the business operator if disputes arise, urging all parties to communicate openly and honestly to reach a fair resolution for everyone.
