The Tourism Authority of Thailand's Eastern Region and Triple Nine Network Company are continuing the major annual golf tournament "Color of the East Golf Paradise 2026" at St. Andrews 2000 in Rayong province, promoting sports tourism during the off-season under the "PLAY STAY SAVE" strategy. The initiative aims to encourage golfers and their families to travel, stay overnight, and spend money throughout the Eastern region sustainably.

The second tournament was filled with spirited competition as golfers tested their swings amid verdant scenery, vying for numerous prizes. Professional golfer Peerapat Huangjing delivered an outstanding performance, shooting a gross 76 (out 40, in 36) to claim the Overall Low Gross championship and receive the trophy from the TAT and a prize package including accommodation at Laem Chabang International Country Club in Chachoengsao.

The award ceremony was graced by Katchai Tepvarchai, Deputy Governor of Rayong, and Wandi Phuean-udom, Director of the TAT Rayong office, who presented trophies and congratulations to the winners.

A car bomb detonated at Tanyong Police Station (old building) in Narathiwat's Kaluwanon subdistrict at 7:20 p.m. on July 21, 2025. Unknown perpetrators hid an improvised explosive device inside a Toyota sedan, allowed the vehicle to roll into the police station compound under cover of darkness, and detonated it with a powerful blast that shook the entire area. The explosion triggered a severe vehicle fire and damaged the surrounding facility. Fire trucks immediately responded and extinguished the blaze while traffic was cordoned off for safety. No injuries or deaths were reported. Security forces have secured the scene and are preparing for bomb disposal and forensic investigation teams to examine the site and gather evidence to identify and prosecute those responsible.

At 12:30 p.m. on July 21, 2026, Pa Phayom police led by Deputy Superintendent Boonsermsuwarn and Deputy Superintendent Sanya Jantsri conducted a search of the cell of Phra Bier, a 34-year-old monk at a local temple in Pa Phayom District, Phatthalung Province, following reports of drug-related activity. Officers discovered 14 methamphetamine pills and drug paraphernalia. Under questioning, the monk confessed to buying 20 pills and consuming 6, leaving 14 in his possession. He was taken into custody for further investigation before prosecution.

At 4:00 p.m. the same day, provincial investigators arrested Aphichai, 33, from Pa Phayom Village, apprehending him with 76 methamphetamine pills, drug paraphernalia, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone. Under interrogation, Aphichai admitted to obtaining the drugs from a dealer in Wang Ang Subdistrict, Chachoengsao District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, and distributing them to local customers at 30 baht per pill while keeping some for personal use. Police are intensifying efforts to track down the larger-scale supplier involved.

On July 21, Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasert explained that the postponement of the Central Committee meeting was due to the Central Committee for Local Official Examination (GSTL) still completing its work, which is expected to finish soon. During interrogation, Thaem confessed to owning the gun, which he purchased online for self-defense due to previous conflicts with the rival group. He claimed that on the day of the incident, the rivals attacked him first out of anger, prompting him and his friends to chase them and force their way into the home. Thaem denied firing the gun and stated they have evidence of being attacked first, though he acknowledged they went too far by breaking into someone else's home at night. He is currently unemployed and works as a motorcycle delivery driver.

Police revealed that after the incident, they tracked suspects through CCTV footage and gathered evidence, eventually obtaining an arrest warrant and apprehending them at their residence in Kukoet Subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani.

Initial charges include illegal possession of a firearm without permission, carrying a firearm in public areas without authorization or legal cause, nighttime burglary with a weapon, and joint commission of crime by two or more persons. The case is being proceeded with according to law.

BANGKOK — Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has responded to criticism over his public singing appearances by sharing ABBA's "Thank You For The Music" along with a famous Thai verse praising the importance of music. Anutin posted the song on his personal Facebook account on Tuesday, following online debate over his singing a Chinese song, "Tian Mi Mi" (Sweet Honey), during his official visit to China. Alongside the ABBA song, the prime minister shared the lines: "Those who have no music in their hearts / Are truly strange and peculiar people." The post was accompanied by saxophone, musical note and microphone emojis. The verse, widely known among Thai audiences, comes from a poem by King Rama VI and is often interpreted as highlighting music's role in enriching people's emotions and humanity. Anutin's post came after criticism that he frequently plays musical instruments and sings at public events, with some critics questioning the timing of such appearances amid various domestic issues.
