21 Jul Khaosod

At 5 p.m. on July 21, 2025, the Rim Phot Thong radio center in Muang Udon Thani district received a report from staff at the Udon Thani Dharma Promotion Foundation about an injured man who came seeking help with a ring stuck around his genitals, causing severe swelling and inflammation. Because it was a holiday and the foundation lacked equipment and personnel, volunteers from the Udon Sawaeng Medha Dharma rescue foundation were called to assist. Upon arrival, they found the injured man, identified as Chok, 41, with a brass ring (size 60-62) tightly constricting the base of his genitals, causing the tip to swell because blood flow was cut off. Rescue personnel immediately transported him by ambulance to Udon Thani Hospital to have the ring cut off and treat the wound to prevent infection. Chok explained that he is homeless and sleeps at Udon Thani Bus Station No. 1 in the Udon Thani municipality. He said that while sleeping, a friend placed the ring on his genitals as a prank, and he was unable to remove it. His genitals became swollen and painful, forcing him to seek help at the foundation. Panya Koona, 28, a staff member at the Dharma Promotion Foundation, recounted that the injured man came to the foundation complaining of genital pain. Upon examination, staff found the brass ring tightly constricting the base of his genitals, causing swelling. It was believed the ring had been placed while the genitals were flaccid, but it had become so tight that blood circulation was impaired, leading to severe swelling and making it impossible to remove. Foundation staff then contacted the radio center to arrange transport to Udon Thani Hospital.

Interior Ministry Denies Rigging in Local Official Exam Postponement

The Interior Ministry denied allegations of rigging after postponing a local official exam committee meeting, attributing the delay to incomplete review work that should finish soon.

Interior Ministry Denies Rigging in Local Official Exam Postponement
21 Jul Khaosod

On July 21, Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasert explained that the postponement of the Central Committee meeting was due to the Central Committee for Local Official Examination (GSTL) still completing its work, which is expected to finish soon. Since the work was not completed in time for the originally scheduled July 23 meeting, the committee decided to push back the gathering until the GSTL finishes its review and sets a new meeting date to present the matter to the Central Committee. When asked about public concerns that the postponement might signal a fix to sway results, Worasit firmly denied any wrongdoing, stating it is merely a timing issue while the examination process remains incomplete and that a new meeting date will be set once the GSTL finishes. He stressed that the delay would be brief and that factually nothing has changed, as verification data already shows over 5,000 candidates, with all examinations fully verifiable and no cause for concern.

21 Jul Khaosod

On July 21, 2026, police commanders ordered officers from Bangkok's Narcotics Division and Region 7 Police to conduct coordinated raids across four locations in the Bung Kum and Bang Kapi districts. The sweeping operation resulted in the arrest of six Vietnamese nationals.

The investigation began after a courier discovered something suspicious in tamarind paste containers bound for overseas. Police subsequently seized more than 2 kilograms of pure methamphetamine and arrested a Thai national named Sompong, who had allegedly opened a bank account for his Vietnamese girlfriend during the previous week.

During searches at the four targeted locations, police found no violations at three residences in Khlong Kum and Khlong Chan areas. At the fourth location in the Khlong Chan subdistrict, Bang Kapi, officers discovered six Vietnamese women staying together, including Sompong's girlfriend.

When questioned, the suspects claimed they came to Thailand to work in entertainment through a modeling agency that paid them 700 baht per assignment. They denied involvement in international drug trafficking but admitted to drug use.

Deputy Commander Thirdej revealed that the network had exploited courier services by hiding narcotics among agricultural products and dried food. Police warned the public against accepting suspicious packages for overseas delivery and cautioned against lending bank accounts or personal documents to others, warning that such actions constitute participation in international organized crime and will result in prosecution.
