A teenager was fatally stabbed by a gang over his shirt on July 24 in Bangkok's Thung Khru district, with his grieving mother demanding justice as police have yet to make arrests.
A mother's heart is broken after her son was fatally stabbed by a teenage gang over nothing more than a shirt. On July 24, 2569, the attack occurred with a blade weapon, which the family believes was triggered by the suspects' attempt to steal the victim's shirt. The incident happened along Prachauthit Soi 45 extending to Soi 69 in Thung Khru district before the injured boy died later.
Days have passed since the incident, but no arrests have been made. The story gained traction on social media with the heartbreaking message: "Just one shirt and they stabbed him to death." According to the victim's friend, the boy had left home early in the morning of July 19, 2569 to buy groceries for his mother when a group of teenagers on motorcycles intercepted him, asking "What shirt are you wearing?" and attempting to take it. When he refused, they attacked him. He tried to escape from Prachauthit Soi 45 all the way to Soi 69 before being stabbed with a blade weapon.
Ms. Fa, 46, the victim's mother, revealed that her son left home with a friend to buy food when the gang of teenagers on two motorcycles chased them down, shouted at him, and approached her son. According to the friend's account, the teenagers grabbed the collar of his school-branded shirt and ordered him to remove it, but he refused. He then fled on the motorcycle, but was attacked with a blade weapon along the way, sustaining serious injuries.
Although the boy attempted to return home and was rushed to the hospital by relatives and friends, his injuries were too severe. Doctors had to perform emergency surgery on his kidney and liver, and transfuse large amounts of blood to keep him alive before he was transferred to Taksin Hospital. The mother recounted that doctors and nurses did everything they could, but the internal wounds were too severe. His body lost massive amounts of blood, and multiple organs began to fail. At approximately 02:52 on July 23, 2569, the hospital called to inform her that her son had died.
"My son's life is not something anyone should take away just because they want a shirt. He didn't even know those people. No matter how much I cry today, my son won't come back," the mother said through tears, vowing to pursue the case against the perpetrators to the fullest extent.
She filed a complaint at Ratsadornburana Police Station from the day of the incident, but no suspects have been arrested. Police cited the need for time to investigate, forcing the family to track CCTV footage themselves, making them feel the case is moving too slowly.
The incident has deeply shocked the local community and sparked widespread outrage online. Many have expressed condolences for the loss of the young man with a promising future, and have called on authorities to accelerate their pursuit of the suspects to bring justice to the grieving family and prevent such violence from happening again.
