Customer Attacks Pub Owner with Broken Glass, Needs 47 Stitches
An attacker smashed a glass and used the shards to stab the face of a restaurant owner in Ban Kruat district after being warned about dancing on tables. The owner, Somchai Kuebram, required 47 stitches and reported the assault to police, who identified the assailant using CCTV. The owner said his pub‑restaurant had opened less than a month ago and he acted to prevent a possible fight.
Somchai Kuebram said the incident occurred late on October 2, 2026, when his restaurant 'Rim Na' was busy with diners and a live band playing fast‑tempo songs. Many customers began dancing, some on chairs, and he intervened to prevent a possible fight. After initially calming the situation, he stood outside the restaurant to see off guests when Anantasak grabbed a glass from a table, smashed it against the edge to create a jagged edge, and repeatedly stabbed him in the face until he fell. Staff took him to Ban Kruat Hospital, where doctors stitched his face 47 times. Somchai added that his venue had been open for less than a month and he opened it to give workers a place to relax, stressing that dancing on chairs is dangerous because people have previously fallen and been injured.
