DBD Partners Thailand Post to Verify Business Addresses
The Department of Business Development will sign an MOU with Thailand Post to verify corporate addresses using GPS coordinates and postal worker site visits, aiming to eliminate fake 'ghost locations' used in business registration fraud. The partnership will also deploy Digital Post ID systems to improve data accuracy and combat nominee shareholder schemes linked to fraudulent bank accounts. The agreement is expected to be finalized in late November to early December 2026.
The Department of Business Development (DBD) is preparing to sign an MOU with Thailand Post to verify legal entity addresses using location coordinates and site photographs to confirm accuracy and prevent the misuse of fake addresses to deceive the public.
DBD Director-General Kittiwat Patchimanont revealed that 'the Department of Business Development has discussed with Dr. Danant Supatthapan, President and CEO of Thailand Post Company Limited, to enhance measures preventing fraudsters from using ghost locations to register legal entities, and to verify addresses specified in registration applications against reality. This will enable accurate retrospective verification and screen high-risk groups related to nominee shareholders in business operations, which serve as precursors to opening fraudulent corporate bank accounts to deceive the public, in accordance with the nominee prevention and illegal business measures of Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supachai Sutthamphanth, who directed urgent coordination with partner networks to resolve and prevent these issues decisively.
Initially, Thailand Post's strengths — its nationwide address coordinates and postal worker network — will be utilized to verify legal entity addresses through GPS coordinates and actual site photography. Postal workers in each area will visit and photograph the locations specified in registration applications to ensure address accuracy.
Additionally, the Digital Post ID (D/ID) system (linking personal data, addresses, and GPS coordinates) and Corporate D/ID (digital address code system for businesses and government agencies, allowing direct database linkage with Thailand Post) will be developed. Both systems will be used for electronic document/data exchange, digital infrastructure integration, and data exchange to enhance efficiency and reliability of information and services of both agencies, while protecting personal and organizational data under the PDPA law.
'Both agencies will jointly create an MOU to drive this cooperation in late November to early December 2569, including defining clear guidelines and scope for effective implementation. The DBD will closely integrate operations with Thailand Post to jointly elevate services of both agencies to meet public and business needs precisely, solving the problem of unauthorized locations being used to register businesses, to upgrade the country's economic infrastructure to facilitate business and create transparency for Thai and foreign investors,' said Kittiwat.
