A drug addict experiencing severe hallucinations deliberately set fire to his home after his wife fled with their child in fear for their safety. Despite undergoing treatment multiple times, he relapsed each time he returned, ultimately losing control and burning down his own house. On July 10, 2025, at 3:15 p.m., investigating officer Lieutenant Colonel Sopone Jeerasut of Prajuabkhirikhan Police Station in Prachuap Khiri Khan received a report of a man in a delusional state burning his own residence in Khamtonod subdistrict. Firefighters were dispatched and quickly arrived at the scene. The single-story wooden house was completely engulfed in intense flames that spread rapidly due to the old, dry timber serving as excellent fuel. Firefighters deployed water to contain the blaze amid strong winds and desiccated wood conditions, eventually extinguishing the fire. Only charred posts remained. The homeowner was apprehended at the scene. Local administrator Suchat Dechsuphaa explained that the man had developed severe drug-induced psychosis and mental illness despite multiple rehabilitation attempts. Each time he returned home, he would relapse and use drugs again until he lost his mind and burned down his house. He previously had a family with a wife and child, but they fled because they feared his dangerous behavior, eventually leading to divorce. Authorities have filed preliminary charges and ordered a psychiatric evaluation before proceeding with legal action.
