A violent altercation erupted on the motorway when a tour bus driver was repeatedly punched by another bus operator following a minor collision and cutting-off incident. Video footage shared on social media shows the driver of one tour company launching a sustained assault on the driver of a competing bus company who was seated at the wheel, prompting other staff on board to intervene and separate the two men.

According to the injured driver, he had signaled to change lanes when the other driver became enraged, challenged him to fight, and called a colleague to join in the attack. The second employee then rushed onto the bus and beat the driver until he was severely injured. The incident stemmed from the second bus cutting in front of a convoy of tour buses that were traveling together with an escort vehicle leading the group. The injured driver and his company are currently coordinating with authorities to provide additional details, while the tour company believed responsible for the assault has not yet been reached for comment as of July 22, 2025.

Thailand's volleyball federation announced it will dispatch its strongest contingent of male and female athletes in both indoor and beach volleyball to the 20th Asian Games in Japan, with full backing from Thailand's national sports authority (TTSF) as it pursues a target of winning at least two medals. The Thai national volleyball teams—men's and women's squads in both indoor and beach categories—will compete at the 20th Asian Games between September 19 and October 4, 2026, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Sompon Chai Bangyaeng, president of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, disclosed that the federation has been continuously preparing national team athletes, particularly the women's indoor volleyball team, which trains at facilities within Thailand's sports science center. SME D Bank announced robust first-half 2025 performance across all metrics, providing over 40.9 billion baht in capital to small and medium enterprises—up 12.42% from the same period in 2024. The majority of support went to small business owners with individual loan ceilings of 15 million baht or less, generating 187.5 billion baht in economic circulation while preserving over 544,000 jobs. An Australian tourist died after drowning in the swimming pool of a luxury villa in Phuket on July 21, 2026, according to police. Authorities are investigating the circumstances.

At around 20:00 on July 21, Pol. Lt. Kriengkrai Daokrajai, a deputy investigation inspector at Thalang Police Station, received a report from Thalang Hospital that a foreign tourist had died. The victim was identified as Mrs. Haiyan Hong, 45, an Australian national.

The incident was reported to Pol. Col. Nikorn Chuthong, superintendent of Thalang Police Station, before investigators and a doctor examined the case. Police determined that the woman had drowned in the swimming pool at Villa No. 26 at The Cape Yamu in Pa Khlok subdistrict, Thalang district, Phuket.

According to her husband, Mr. Yaxi, the couple and 12 relatives had checked into the villa on July 20 and planned to stay until July 25. At around 16:00 on July 21, they rented jet skis and traveled to Naka Island before returning to the villa at 17:15. They then swam in the villa's pool, which is approximately 3 metres deep, along with about eight relatives.

During the swim, relatives noticed Mrs. Hong submerged in the pool. They pulled her from the water, performed CPR, and called emergency medical services. She was taken to Thalang Hospital, where doctors attempted to save her life but she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary examination by investigators and doctors at Thalang Hospital determined that the cause of death was drowning. The body remains at the hospital pending a detailed autopsy. Police will question relatives who were present, examine CCTV footage, and notify the Australian Embassy as part of the ongoing investigation.

Deputy Prime Minister Yossakorn Wongswasdi led a Thai government delegation to Seoul on July 22, 2569, for the Thailand-Korea Business Forum focused on biohealth, medtech, wellness, and future food sectors.
