The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) is opening the EEC Sustainability Expo 2026 under the concept "EEC Connect to Sustainability," held at Central Rayong shopping mall and running through September 13. EEC Secretary-General Chula Sukmanop inaugurated the event, which aims to link community potential with the business sector to create economic opportunities while advancing environmental stewardship and raising living standards across the EEC region.
Chula stated that EEC development extends beyond infrastructure, industry, technology, and large-scale investment—it must go hand-in-hand with improving people's quality of life by balancing three dimensions: social, environmental, and economic factors working as an integrated system.
The "Connect" concept encourages business investment to create economic opportunities for local residents and communities while showing investors the potential of local products, services, and traditional knowledge that can feed into the business ecosystem and generate sustainable livelihoods.
The expo features an "EEC Sustainability Showcase" presenting the EEC's achievements, including food heritage value-addition programs, the "EEC Select Best Service" product and service promotion, and the "EEC Connect" community benefit-sharing initiative. Over 95 vendor booths showcase food, beverages, community products, fashion, crafts, home décor, health, and lifestyle items from businesses, social enterprises, and network partners.
Additional highlights include an EEC Select Best Service 2026 certification ceremony, forums on linking investment benefits to communities, demonstrations of innovative dishes using local ingredients by students from six institutions, and presentations from the final round of the "EEC Low Carbon School 2026" project, which engages youth in waste management, efficient resource use, and greenhouse gas reduction.
A key focus is ensuring collaboration continues after the event through ongoing economic connections between communities and businesses, network expansion, knowledge transfer to educational institutions across the EEC area, and partnership coordination, with the EEC serving as a connector between places, communities, resources, and opportunities for sustainable development.
