Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Persivivatana explained that due to public confusion over the rate adjustment and government relief measures, the Ministry of Interior clarified that the new residential electricity rate structure under the National Energy Policy Committee resolution grants automatic entitlement to all households without requiring registration or app access.

Meanwhile, electricity relief for state welfare card holders still requires registration with the power authority to claim benefits under prescribed criteria.

The Regional Electricity Authority (PEA) and Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) under the Ministry of Interior's supervision are implementing the energy committee resolution, with new rates effective from August consumption and billing beginning in September 2569.

Under this rate restructuring, all residential homes receive the benefit of paying no more than 3 baht per unit for the first 200 units without registration or further action. Consumption from unit 201 onward applies the original rate. Temporary meter rates have also been reduced to match residential rates to ease household expenses.

Beyond the rate adjustment, state welfare card holders continue receiving electricity assistance capped at 315 baht monthly under the existing scheme, though they must register with the power authority. Registration opens July 20 through September 30, 2569.

Under the energy committee resolution, the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Energy, PEA, and MEA will separate public electricity costs from household bills at approximately 0.09 baht per unit, automatically reducing rates for all users.

"The government reiterates that this residential electricity rate adjustment is an automatic right for all households—no registration, no app download needed—with benefits visible on September bills for August consumption," Lalida stated. "State welfare card holders seeking the 315-baht monthly assistance should register with their power authority by the deadline to avoid missing the benefit."

Officers found Sergeant Yutthapong shot multiple times with a 9mm handgun in the chest, left arm, and hip, with bullets lodged in his body. He remained conscious and was transported to Buddhasothorn Hospital. At the scene, police apprehended Officer Pitsanu Malayson, who was waiting to surrender. Preliminary investigation revealed both officers work at the same service station with rotating 10-day shifts. Yutthapong is the station supervisor; Pitsanu's shift happened to start that day. The two, along with approximately 10 other police personnel, had attended a gathering at a restaurant in Plaeng Yao district. Tensions over work-related matters began at the restaurant and continued after they returned to the service station. Unable to resolve the dispute verbally, Pitsanu retrieved a handgun and fired over 10 shots, seriously wounding Yutthapong. A nearby resident heard shouting and multiple gunshots, then witnessed the incident through a window. Police are collecting evidence and will pursue legal proceedings.

On July 22, 2025, Rача Kamphinit, subdistrict headman of Ta Ton, reported the natural disaster in Ta Ton Subdistrict, Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province. The fallen tree caused severe damage to the pickup truck, with the roof and front bumper area completely collapsed.

The strong winds also brought down power lines in the area. An initial inspection found no reports of injuries or fatalities from the incident.

Following the incident, the Ta Ton Subdistrict Administration coordinated with the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office to deploy chainsaws and machinery to cut, trim, and remove the fallen tree debris that was blocking the vehicle and surrounding area.

Simultaneously, the Mae Ai District Provincial Electricity Authority was contacted to dispatch crews to repair and restore the damaged power lines, ensuring public safety and restoring electricity service to normal as quickly as possible.

On July 23, emergency responders in Pattaya were called to a dispute with injuries in the Pattaya Beachside Alley 13/2 area in Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri. Officers from Pattaya City Police Station and rescue volunteers rushed to the scene, where crowds of residents and tourists gathered in shock.

Ms. Wan, 33, a tomboy, was found with a knife wound to the neck and bleeding heavily. She recounted that she had intervened to stop the som tam vendor from bothering her mother figure (a neighboring food vendor, not a biological relative), but was instead cursed at and attacked with a cutting knife multiple times.

Ms. Rungarun, 55, the som tam vendor accused of the attack, explained that the injured woman had come in ranting that she had a problem with a nearby food stall owner—though there had been no actual conflict. The woman threw ice at her and smashed her display case. Unable to tolerate it, Rungarun grabbed her papaya-cutting knife and slashed in self-defense. She admitted to the attack and the verbal abuse, saying she had previously given the woman food and water out of kindness.

A nearby food vendor, known as P'Fa, 60, clarified that the injured woman was not Rungarun's biological child but liked to call her "mother." The woman had ordered food, then suddenly started quarreling with the som tam vendor, falsely claiming they had fought—which wasn't true.

Local residents added that the injured woman often caused trouble when drunk and was unpredictable. Pattaya City Police have questioned the som tam vendor at the station, while the injured woman is being treated and will give a statement once recovered to establish the true cause of the incident.
