Facebook Influencer Disputes Claims of 1.2-Ton Fish Donation
Facebook influencer Kan Jompluang disputed claims she received a 1.2-ton mackerel donation during March's building collapse crisis, presenting evidence she accepted only 300 kilograms and questioning the donor's inflated valuation.
On September 24, 2025, at 9:19 p.m., Kan Jompluang went live on Facebook with chat evidence and a timeline of events regarding a mackerel donation. She stated that someone first contacted her on August 19, 2024, before a building collapse incident, asking for help with a metal fragment found in pork from a grilled pork shop. The person claimed factory representatives were intimidating and no one dared to help, alleging widespread bribery within government agencies.
According to Kan, on March 30, 2025, during the building collapse crisis, the person offered 300 kilograms of sun-dried mackerel to be fried and distributed as food aid. However, the person later claimed to have requested increases to 300 kilograms and then 1.2 tons in exchange for providing documentation or expediting assistance. Kan stated she never made such a request and that her team simply responded with gratitude.
On March 30 at 4 p.m., the person asked if they could proceed, and Kan's team agreed by 5:30 p.m., mentioning delivery at the relief foundation tent. On March 31 at nearly 3 p.m., the person reported the fish had been delivered but couldn't reach the contact person. Kan then showed photos of an empty pickup truck and a single cooler of mackerel.
Kan clarified that she received only 300 kilograms, not 1.2 tons. She questioned the claimed value of 420,000 baht for 1.2 tons at 350 baht per kilogram, noting that 300 kilograms at market rates would be worth only 99,000 baht. She showed photos of the mackerel with a price label of 330 baht per kilogram and challenged the discrepancy. Kan also noted the suspicious timing: the person requested a donation around 5 p.m. on March 30 but claimed delivery was completed by 2 p.m. the next day, contradicting their stated two-day preparation time. She added that the person claimed her team had conducted phone calls and coordinated the donation, but no such conversations took place.
