FBI Thanks Thai Police For Help Catching U.S. Fugitives
The FBI visited Bangkok Metropolitan Police to thank them for apprehending three U.S. fugitives wanted for family abduction and sexual offenses against minors, highlighting ongoing cooperation between the agencies.
The FBI visited the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Investigation Division to express gratitude for cooperation in tracking down and apprehending suspects wanted under federal arrest warrants from the United States. On September 18, 2026, officials reported that on September 17, the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Investigation Division (IDMB) welcomed Stephen Flores, Section Chief of Operations Section 2 with the International Operations Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Benjamin Virtue, Law Enforcement Attaché at FBI Bangkok, during their visit to meet with Chotivattha Luangvilai, divisional commander of the Special Operations Division.
During the meeting, the FBI delegation thanked the IDMB and investigators from the Immigration Enforcement Division for their cooperation and close coordination in investigating, tracking, and apprehending three suspects wanted under U.S. federal court arrest warrants. The cases include one involving family abduction and two involving sexual offenses against minors. The cooperation reflects concrete law enforcement collaboration and coordination between agencies of both countries.
Both sides also discussed and exchanged views on strengthening investigative cooperation, information sharing, and law enforcement coordination to enhance the effectiveness of crime prevention and suppression, as well as to support ongoing inter-agency cooperation in the future. Following the discussion, Chotivattha Luangvilai and his team joined the FBI representatives for lunch in a friendly atmosphere, further cementing the relationship and cooperation between the agencies.
