Immigration Police Arrest Two Foreign Fugitives at Visa Counter
Immigration police arrested two foreign nationals at a Bangkok visa office who were both wanted for fraud in their home countries. A Chinese man was sought for a multi-million baht scam in China, while an Indian man was wanted by Pattaya police for a romance scam that defrauded Thai women of about 5 million baht. Both had their visa extensions denied and were handed over to authorities.
On November 5, 2026, Pol. Lt. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, ordered a team led by Pol. Col. Choenran Rimphadi, Pol. Col. Thanit Thaiwatcharamas, Pol. Col. Kongchat Liangsomthap, and Pol. Lt. Col. Pholsit Suthiat to inspect visa extension applications at the Government Complex on Chaeng Watthana Road after detecting foreigners attempting to secure legal stays in Thailand.
The first suspect, Mr. Jiang (alias), a 28-year-old Chinese national, was found to be subject to a Chinese arrest warrant for fraud involving tens of millions of baht. He had submitted documents for a visa extension but was identified during checks. Officials denied the extension, reduced his remaining visa validity, and revoked his permission to remain in the kingdom.
The second suspect, Mr. Samban (alias), a 40-year-old Indian national, matched a criminal profile and was found to be wanted by Pattaya City Police for fraud. Investigation revealed he had engaged in romance scams, befriending Thai women and deceiving them into investing money — totaling about 5 million baht — without actually investing the funds. He was arrested and transferred to Pattaya City Police.
