Thunderstorms, Hail Forecast for Upper Thailand; Heavy Rain Expected in South

The Thai Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and isolated heavy rain across upper Thailand for the next 24 hours, urging the public to avoid open areas and unstable structures. A high-pressure system from China is driving the unstable conditions, with waves exceeding two meters in stormy areas of the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. From November 7 to 13, the southern region will face increased rainfall with heavy to very heavy downpours as easterly winds strengthen.

BOT Sees Inflation Above 4% Into 2024, Holds Rates

The Bank of Thailand projects headline inflation will reach nearly 4% in late 2023 and early 2024, driven by rising oil and fresh food costs, before easing later next year. The Monetary Policy Committee kept its policy rate steady to support economic recovery, while flagging risks from Middle East tensions, energy subsidy limits, and business cost pass-through. Domestic fuel prices may not drop as fast as global rates due to the need to rebuild the Fuel Fund.
