Education Minister Leads Flood Recovery in Ratchaburi
Deputy Education Minister Akkhanan Kanthitikun led a volunteer team from the Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education to Ratchaburi to aid flood recovery efforts. The team deployed a mobile Fix it Center offering free repairs of electrical appliances, motorcycles and farm equipment, while cleaning damaged schools and libraries. Officials urged inter‑agency cooperation to restore normal life for residents.
Accompanied by Ketsipha Suwanich, director-general of the Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education, Akkhanan visited flood-hit areas in Ratchaburi, praising volunteers and distributing relief supplies. He explained that after seeing hardship in Kanchanaburi, he coordinated with the office to mobilize personnel for cleanup and restoration. The mobile Fix it Center repairs electronics, motorcycles and farm equipment, and provides free oil changes, with severe cases reviewed individually. The ministry is coordinating with the Office of the Basic Education Commission to gather data on damaged schools in the central region to speed up repairs and minimize disruption to learning. Ketsipha added that the minister has directed the office to assist flood victims through community kitchens, facility rehabilitation, and flood‑risk education, and noted that digital‑skill apps are being used to help people apply for relief aid. In Ratchaburi, volunteers cleaned the ONIE office in Damnoen Saduak district, Wat Amorn Yat Samakam temple and its school, then inspected the library at Ban Phong ONIE office, which suffered severe structural damage and remains closed temporarily for safety.
