Deputy Education Minister Delivers Aid to Flood-Hit Kanchanaburi
Deputy Education Minister Akkanat Puphrom visited flood-affected communities in Kanchanaburi on September 29, 2024, delivering aid including medicine, food, water trucks, and sanitation facilities. He prioritized vulnerable groups such as the elderly, bedridden patients, people with disabilities, and children, emphasizing that elected representatives must actively support citizens during emergencies rather than waiting for requests.
On September 29, 2024, Deputy Education Minister and Kanchanaburi District 1 Member of Parliament Akkanat Puphrom of the For Thailand Party visited flood-affected areas across multiple districts, delivering medicines, food, and essential supplies. He deployed mobile water trucks and sanitation vehicles to Nong Kum Subdistrict in Bo Phloi District, Wang Dong and Pak Phraek Subdistricts in the municipal district, and surrounding areas of the Lam Takhian Dam and Nong Krathoem Subdistrict to provide relief.
Akkanat stated that the mission focused on reaching vulnerable populations—bedridden patients, the elderly, people with disabilities, and children—who face mobility challenges in seeking assistance. He emphasized the importance of proactive assistance rather than waiting for disaster to strike, noting that prevention is better than remedy since flood severity is unpredictable.
"We must reach people quickly when they suffer, especially those who cannot help themselves," he said. "A representative's duty extends beyond parliamentary work to standing beside citizens during hardship. Good representatives do not abandon anyone." He stressed that aid delivery should include listening to community concerns, assessing local needs, and providing follow-up support beyond initial relief.
Akkanat reiterated his commitment to the public trust placed in him, stating that he would not abandon anyone—whether elderly, ill, disabled, or children—regardless of location. "We will try to reach every area and care for everyone as best we can," he concluded.
