Former Amateur Boxer Defends Selection Rules for Olympic Team
Former Thai boxer Chatchai Decha argues that Olympic team candidates must win the national championship first, pushing back against the association's support for ONE Championship fighter Nabil Anane's Olympic selection bid.
Chatchai Decha, a former amateur boxer for Thailand's national team, posted on Facebook about the selection process for Thai boxers competing in the Olympic Games. He argued that athletes seeking Olympic selection should first win Thailand's national championship, stating: "Boxers should win the Thai championship first before going to the Olympics. It's not a case of sending anyone you want. There are rules and regulations."
The Thai Amateur Boxing Association previously announced a partnership with ONE Championship and the Thai Olympic Committee to support Nabil Anane, a former ONE bantamweight champion, in his bid to compete in international boxing and pursue a medal at the Olympics representing Thailand.
