Four Candidates Vie for DSI Deputy Director Post

Four candidates are being prepared to compete for one vacant Deputy Director position at the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), with selection criteria based on seniority and work performance. The announcement was made at the DSI press room at the Chaeng Watthana Government Center on September 3. Reports indicate that DSI Director Yutthana Praedam may be transferred, with former DSI Deputy Director Piya Raksakun, now Director of the Department of Corrections, potentially taking his place. The current three Deputy Directors are Wisanu Chim Trakoon, Anuruk Rojnanirundkij, and Jatuphol Bongkochmach. The vacant position was left by Surawut Rangsai, who was transferred to become Deputy Director of the Department of Corrections, potentially leaving up to three Deputy Director positions to fill. Among candidates mentioned is Khemsak Prakaihorngmani, Chief of the Technology and Information Crimes Division, who has handled major cases involving unauthorized forex trading, online gambling networks linked to Songkhla MP Chonnabat Nakham of the Krathumthani Party, and digital currency mining operations. He is considered close to Justice Minister Khemsak and described as the minister's right hand. Another candidate is Nathapol Disyatham, Chief of the Natural Resources and Environment Crimes Division, who has handled cases including illegal pig farms, chicken fraud, the death of actress Tangmo in a speedboat incident, and land encroachment at Khao Kradong. When asked about rumors of his promotion, Khemsak smiled, denied the reports with a laugh, and said the matter should be left to his superiors, then declined further comment. The selection process will be handled by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, as the Deputy Director position is classified at civil service level C9.
