Grandmother Dreads Funeral Day as Hlun Solo's Body Returns Home
5 Aug Khaosod

The family of content creator Borvatthat Pengsuk, known as Hlun Solo, has been preparing to receive his remains at their home in Somdej District, Kalasin Province, his birthplace. Relatives, neighbors, and fans have been visiting continuously over recent days to offer support, with the community helping set up reception facilities. District Officer Wirat Rajchari has visited almost daily to encourage the family, while fans have brought drinking water to distribute to mourners, reflecting the warmth characteristic of Isan communities.

His grandmother, Buasong Pengsuk, initially caused concern about her mental state, but she is now in better spirits and continues to greet visitors each morning. She revealed she has not dreamed of her grandson since the incident occurred, but feels more at ease because of the abundant support from relatives and friends. However, she expressed anxiety about how she will manage when the body arrives, unsure how strong she will be, though she finds comfort believing her grandson has now reunited with his deceased parents.

Uncle Sompong Pengsuk, 62, disclosed that after learning the body would return to Thailand, the family and neighbors immediately coordinated preparations with assistance from local officials and the community. The initial plan includes three nights of Buddhist prayers and merit-making ceremonies before a cremation service at Rangsee Chachawol Temple in Somdej District. A key concern for many is whether an autopsy will be performed when the body reaches Thailand; Sompong stated the family has not yet reached a clear conclusion and is waiting for clarification on the cause of death from relevant authorities, with the possibility of a second autopsy if results remain unclear.

District Officer Wirat noted that preparations have received excellent cooperation from all sectors in and outside the area, including the provision of parking space, setup of tents and chairs, venue decoration, and traffic management. All efforts aim to give Hlun Solo, who brought honor to his family, locality, school, and the Thai YouTube community, a fitting final farewell. However, the exact time of the body's arrival in Thailand and subsequent procedures remain pending confirmation from the family and relevant authorities.

Songkhla Police Chief Orders Officer's Suspension Over Abuse Scandal
5 Aug Khaosod

The Songkhla police commander has suspended an investigation officer from the Thung Luang Police Station following complaints and revelations from female victims of coercion into filming explicit videos sold to private groups, with the youngest victim just 4 years old.

A group of female victims submitted evidence to lawyer Dr. Thanakrit Chitareerutthan, chairman of the Thanakrit Legal Volunteer Group, after the officer allegedly intimidated and forced them to film obscene content for posting and sale on hidden online groups, affecting more than 20 victims.

One of the officer's ex-girlfriends disclosed that she was forced into a relationship with him after being secretly filmed. The relationship lasted two years, during which she was repeatedly filmed in intimate moments and attempted to delete the videos. She later discovered on his phone that he habitually filmed women. On May 31, around 11:00 a.m., the officer was involved in a traffic accident in which more than 10 mobile phones spilled out of his vehicle, along with various drugs including methamphetamine and ice, which he claimed were evidence seized in investigations. She managed to secretly retrieve one phone and found explicit videos of numerous women, the youngest appearing to be only 4 years old. She then worked to identify all victims in the videos before filing a complaint on June 2.

As of August 5, 2025, police reports confirm that the Songkhla Provincial Police commander has ordered the officer from Thung Luang Police Station to be suspended from duty following complaints and revelations from the female victims.

5 Aug Khaosod

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed on August 5, 2025, that he is prepared to fly an F-16 fighter jet to inspect military readiness at Wing 1 in Nakhon Ratchasima on August 14, contingent on military approval and adherence to safety regulations. The military will brief him on security measures, exercises, and operational preparedness that have benefited from government-approved budgets and strategic initiatives over the past 10 months. When asked if the flight would demonstrate Thai military strength to adversaries, Anutin rejected the characterization, calling it a confidential briefing rather than a display of power. He stated that understanding the military's capabilities would strengthen his negotiating position with other nations, and clarified that he has his own aircraft if border reconnaissance becomes necessary. Regarding his Indonesia visit, when pressed about whether the reception matched that received by three former Thai prime ministers, Anutin laughed without answering.

On August 5, 2025, marine police unit 7 officers coordinated with NBTC officials to apprehend Panayakorn, 43, and Cha, 67, both boat owners operating in Songkhla Lake. They face charges of possessing illegal goods, importing and operating unlicensed telecommunications equipment, and establishing unauthorized radio stations aboard two fishing vessels.

During the search, officers recovered one white Starlink satellite internet router with cables and one Starlink UTP-232 transceiver from Panayakorn's boat. From Cha's vessel, they seized a logarithmic period antenna (model TQx-689-3800-13), an omnidirectional antenna (model YBT-700-2700), connecting cables, and one signal amplifier.

The arrests followed a crackdown on illegal telecommunications operations in the Songkhla Lake waterway. Both suspects admitted to purchasing and installing the Starlink equipment and phone signal boosters themselves but claimed ignorance of the legal violations. They have been taken into custody pending further legal proceedings.

Thailand Relaxes Vehicle Age Rules for Welfare Card Holders
5 Aug Khaosod

The Department of Land Transport is accelerating the integration of its database to automatically relax vehicle ownership requirements for welfare card holders, covering more than one million cases, with data to be submitted to the Finance Ministry by August this year. Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Angsakulgkiart disclosed that the Land Transport Department is proceeding with relaxed vehicle ownership criteria for state welfare card holders by adjusting the system to automatically exempt inspections for cars over 20 years old and motorcycles over 15 years old, covering more than one million cases. The One Stop Service system connecting district offices and transport offices in certain areas is already operational and is in the process of integrating all data for submission to the Finance Ministry by August 2026 to be used in determining registered beneficiaries' eligibility. Following the recent cabinet meeting, approximately 200,000 citizens filed appeals at transport offices, which is expected to result in 2-3 million additional people qualifying for state welfare card benefits from groups previously denied eligibility. Additionally, the government is expediting services for citizens with mobility difficulties, especially seniors and persons with disabilities, by directing the Interior Ministry to coordinate with village headmen and community leaders to collect data and arrange home-based service queues to reduce benefit gaps. If citizens lodge complaints through the department or other channels, the department will expedite fact-checking and if they meet the criteria, will quickly process their benefits.
