Heavy Rain Forecast for Bangkok and Much of Thailand
The Thai Meteorological Department warns of heavy rain and strong winds across much of Thailand tomorrow, with Bangkok facing a 70% chance of downpours. Several regions, including the central, eastern and southern provinces, are expected to see 60% coverage of thunderstorms, raising risks of flash floods and overflowing streams. Sea conditions in the Andaman and Gulf of Thailand may exceed 2 meters in stormy areas, prompting mariners to exercise caution.
The Meteorological Department issued a 24-hour forecast valid from 18:00 today to 18:00 tomorrow. In the north, there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds in Tak, Kamphaeng Phet and Phetchabun; lows 21‑24°C, highs 33‑36°C, east winds 10‑20 km/h. In the northeast, a 30% chance of thunderstorms with gusty winds mainly in Loei, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani; lows 22‑25°C, highs 33‑35°C, east winds 10‑25 km/h. In the central region, a 60% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon; lows 23‑25°C, highs 33‑34°C, southeasterly winds 10‑20 km/h. In the east, a 60% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat; lows 24‑26°C, highs 32‑35°C, southeasterly winds 10‑30 km/h; seas generally calm under 1 m but higher than 2 m in thunderstorm areas. In the eastern southern Gulf coast, a 60% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain in Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Yala and Narathiwat; lows 22‑25°C, highs 32‑35°C, southeasterly winds 15‑30 km/h; seas about 1 m, exceeding 2 m in thunderstorms. In the western southern Andaman coast, a 40% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain in Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun; lows 23‑25°C, highs 32‑35°C, east winds 15‑30 km/h; seas about 1 m, exceeding 2 m in thunderstorms. For Bangkok and vicinity, a 70% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds; lows 25‑27°C, highs 33‑35°C, southeasterly winds 10‑20 km/h. The department also noted that the winter season 2026 is expected to arrive late.
