The Department of Corrections has released details on the death of inmate Supchai Srisupaksa, who was serving a 23-year, 6-month, 20-day sentence for fraud and had been held at the Bang Khwang Central Prison since March 11, 2016. On June 25, 2569 (2026), Srisupaksa experienced a sudden health deterioration and was admitted to the emergency room at Phra Nang Klao Hospital. Bangkok Thief Targets Elderly Living Alone
3h ago Khaosod

On July 12, 2569, two victims independently filed complaints at the Sai Mai coordination center in Bangkok after becoming targets of a skilled criminal who impersonates repair technicians to deceive elderly residents into opening their doors. The suspect then ransacks homes and steals valuables before fleeing.

The first victim, Ms. Maliwun (name withheld), age 69, described how the perpetrator posed as an air conditioning repairman riding a black or dark brown Honda Scoopy motorcycle without license plates, wearing a helmet and surgical mask to conceal his face. He deceived the elderly victim into letting him inside, then systematically searched the second floor and stole two diamond rings, a gold necklace, and cash before escaping.

The second victim, Ms. Bunruean (name withheld), age 54, from Min Buri district, reported an incident on July 6 around 8:49 a.m. While she was at work, the suspect entered claiming to check the electrical system, spent about 15 minutes circling inside, then seized the opportunity to steal nearly 10,000 baht in cash from her 94-year-old grandmother and elderly relatives. Police were notified and CCTV footage showed the suspect fleeing toward Suwinthawong Road, though he remains at large.

Analysis of both victims' accounts reveals a clear pattern: the suspect is a thin, average-height male wearing a t-shirt, jeans, canvas shoes, and a helmet, specifically targeting homes where only elderly people live alone. He operates from a dark or dark brown Honda Scoopy.

Ekkaphop Luangprasert, founder of the Sai Maai Must Survive Facebook page, believes the suspect has conducted multiple crimes across Bangkok and poses a serious threat to seniors. The page is coordinating with Min Buri and Bupharam police stations to accelerate investigation and capture. They also appeal to the public to report similar incidents or provide tips to help bring the perpetrator to justice.

Street Sweeper Hit by Car, Driver Fled Without Helping

A street sanitation worker in Bangkok's Sai Mai district was struck by a white Toyota Altis on July 9 and left with severe injuries; the driver fled without offering help, and authorities are seeking dashcam footage to identify the vehicle.

Street Sweeper Hit by Car, Driver Fled Without Helping
3h ago Khaosod

On July 12, Ms. Rapeeprorn Pohsri, a 33-year-old street sanitation worker for Sai Mai district office, filed a complaint seeking justice after being struck by a white Toyota Altis while cleaning and clearing drainage on a sidewalk. The accident occurred on July 9 around 5:10 a.m. on Chaengwattana Road near a Lotus shopping mall in Bangkok's Sai Mai district.

Rapeeprorn recounted the incident: a white Toyota Altis suddenly struck her from behind with tremendous force as she performed her routine duties, launching her body several meters away. She sustained severe injuries to her knee area, with doctors unable to confirm whether she will fully recover normal walking ability.

Worse than the physical pain, she said, was the driver's response. Rather than stopping immediately to help, the driver continued for over 500 meters before parking near a Big C supermarket on Chaengwattana Road. Security footage showed the passenger opening the door to inspect vehicle damage while the driver remained in the car, showing no intention to check on the victim or return to the scene. To this day, no one has taken responsibility.

Rapeeprorn appealed: "How would you feel if this happened to your family member? I'm asking the driver to take responsibility for their actions."

A coworker who witnessed the incident and rushed to help found Rapeeprorn unconscious on the ground with a swollen head from impact and severe ankle injuries. The coworker confirmed Rapeeprorn was working safely within protocol, wearing a reflective safety vest clearly visible even in early dawn conditions.

The coworker appealed to drivers to exercise greater caution and show compassion for street workers who begin work at 4:00 a.m. to keep the city clean and safe for the public.

Nirand Kaeng, cofounder of the Sai Mai community page, reported that his team is reviewing CCTV footage in detail. They have identified a white sedan but the license plate remains unclear in the footage.

Nirand appealed for public cooperation: anyone driving on Chaengwattana Road near the Lotus mall around 5:00 a.m. on July 9 who has dashcam footage or other evidence of the incident is urged to submit it to police as evidence for prosecution.

Thailand Launches Campaign Against Counterfeit Goods
3h ago Khaosod

The Commerce Ministry is mobilizing all sectors to strengthen enforcement against intellectual property infringement in physical markets and online platforms, while promoting a new generation awareness campaign on respecting intellectual property rights. Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supachai Suthathummaphan chaired an event promoting intellectual property respect under the concept "Don't Buy, Don't Use, Don't Support Intellectual Property Infringement." Government agencies including the National Police, Customs Department, Special Cases Investigation Department, state bodies, private sector rights holders, Thai embassies abroad, and foreign organizations participated at Siam Paragon and Siam Square's Walking Street to educate the public on the importance of respecting intellectual property rights and strengthen cooperation in preventing and suppressing infringement in physical markets and online platforms.

Minister Supachai stated that intellectual property infringement is a problem hindering economic progress, directly impacting producers, businesses, and consumers while undermining Thailand's trade competitiveness. She emphasized that IP protection is a crucial factor major trading partners, particularly the United States, use when evaluating Thailand's intellectual property protection status, affecting investor confidence and the country's trade and investment climate.

The Commerce Ministry's Intellectual Property Department has strengthened Thailand's intellectual property protection system while promoting an innovation ecosystem benefiting Thai creators and entrepreneurs. The ministry developed cooperation mechanisms with domestic and foreign agencies to elevate intellectual property standards to international levels and drive Thailand toward an innovation and creativity-driven economy.

The Intellectual Property Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on preventing intellectual property infringement on internet platforms with the Central Investigation Bureau's Economic Crime Suppression Division and Shopee Thailand Company Limited. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in information exchange, investigation, and prosecution of violators, while improving prevention and suppression of counterfeit goods sales on online platforms.

The ministry also received a cooperation agreement with Unilever Thai Trading Company, a rights holder, which joined the collaboration network to implement Notice and Takedown measures to suspend counterfeit product sales online. The cooperation network currently has 45 member organizations, including three Commerce Ministry agencies: the Intellectual Property Department, Trade Development Department, and International Trade Promotion Department.

3h ago Khaosod

On July 12, 2025, Sergeant Prasong Sihajaong, an investigator at Non Sung Police Station in Kalasin Province, received reports of a sedan that had lost control, struck a roadside sign, and overturned, resulting in fatalities. The accident occurred on the Khon Kaen-Yang Talat route in Hua Na Kham Subdistrict, Yang Talat District, Kalasin Province. Emergency responders from multiple rescue units, including Kalasin Samakkhi Gratitude Rescue, Asoke Chiang Yuen Rescue, Eng Tek Tung Rescue, and municipal rescue teams from Hua Na Kham and Pho Thong subdistricts, rushed to the scene.

At the accident site, rescuers found a bronze-silver sedan completely overturned in a rice field, severely damaged. Two bodies were found ejected from the vehicle near a roadside pole: a 17-year-old granddaughter and a 63-year-old grandmother, both from Chiang Yuen District, Maha Sarakham Province.

According to initial investigation, the grandmother and granddaughter had left home to attend the morning market, but only one kilometer into their journey, heavy rain made the road slippery. This likely caused the vehicle to lose traction, veer off the curve, strike the roadside sign, and overturn. Both occupants died at the scene.

Hospital Debunks AI-Generated Mystery Shadow Video

Maha Raj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital debunked a viral video showing a mysterious shadow following morgue staff, confirming it was AI-generated manipulated content combining old footage with fabricated elements.

Hospital Debunks AI-Generated Mystery Shadow Video
3h ago Khaosod

A mysterious video circulating online claimed to show CCTV footage from the entrance of the morgue at Maha Raj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital in Nakhon Ratchasima. The clip depicted someone resembling hospital staff pushing a gurney with a deceased person while a dark, humanoid shadow appeared to follow them throughout. The video sparked debate online, with some people frightened and believing it captured a paranormal event, while others suspected it was AI-generated for entertainment and to create viral buzz.

On July 12, 2025, reporters visited the hospital's morgue area to verify the facts and question staff about the trending video. Hospital officials confirmed the clip was AI-generated or manipulated content. The person shown was not a hospital employee, as evidenced by clothing and attire that did not match standard morgue staff uniforms.

Additionally, the direction the gurney was being pushed did not align with actual work procedures. The video showed it being pushed to the left, an area that leads to the delivery room and kitchen—routes where bodies would never be taken according to hospital protocol. Staff stated that deceased bodies can only be removed through a single designated route from the morgue.

Upon checking the original CCTV camera angles, the hospital confirmed the source was genuine hospital footage, but the scene conditions in the video did not match the current layout. The morgue entrance now has trees planted in various locations, and no motorcycles are parked in front, differences visible from the video that was shared. Initial assessment suggests the location footage originated from three to four years ago before being AI-modified and distributed.

Hospital officials noted they remain unsure of the creator's intentions—whether to generate controversy or achieve another purpose—but firmly denied the "shadow following staff" incident ever occurred at Maha Raj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital.
