Security was tightened at Udon Thani's cabinet meeting with bomb sweeps and scanners as villagers prepare to petition the prime minister against the potash
Security was tightened at the Montatip Hall in Udon Thani, the venue for a mobile cabinet meeting. Since morning, EOD officers with explosive-detection dogs have been sweeping the area, while police have installed X-ray scanners at both entrances to screen people and belongings. Only authorized pass-holders are being allowed inside. Meanwhile, the Student Network for Thai Reform (KPT), led by Phichit Chaimongkol and Nasser Yima, plans to bring villagers affected by the Udon Thani potash mining project to submit a petition to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and the Interior Minister opposing the mine.
