Electric Motorcycle Fire Spreads to House, Father Seriously Burned
A fire sparked by three electric motorcycles engulfed a two-story house in Chonburi early Monday, severely burning the 40-year-old homeowner. His wife and toddler escaped with help from neighbors who risked the flames to pull them out. Firefighters controlled the blaze after 30 minutes; investigators are still determining whether an electrical fault or battery issue caused the incident.
At 5:00 a.m. on November 3, 2026, Saen Suk Police received a report of a fire involving three electric motorcycles that spread to a two-story residence in Huay Kaphi, Mueang District, Chonburi. Officers responded with Saen Suk Municipal fire trucks and the Thammarat Manirat rescue unit. The blaze erupted fiercely on the ground floor where the motorcycles were parked and quickly raced upward. Amid panic among neighbors — who knew a family of three was inside — firefighters battled for more than 30 minutes to contain the flames and prevent spread to adjacent properties.
The injured were identified as Nakorn (surname withheld), 40, the homeowner, who sustained serious burns to both legs and torso; his wife Rung-arun (surname withheld), 41; and their three-year-old son. All received first aid and were taken to hospital.
Neighbor Phuriphat (surname withheld), 21, said he woke to use the bathroom and noticed an unusual glow from the opposite house. Seeing three electric motorcycles ablaze on the lower level with flames climbing fast, he shouted warnings and rushed in to help pull the family out despite the intense fire. Another bystander also entered to assist, suffering minor arm burns, and together they got everyone out safely.
The exact cause — whether electrical fault, motorcycle battery failure, or another factor — awaits a detailed investigation by authorities.
