House Anti-Money Laundering Committee Probes Bum Panadda Foundation
A complaint has been filed with the House Anti-Money Laundering Committee alleging the Bum Panadda Foundation misused hundreds of millions of baht in public donations. Committee chair Phitak Dech said the complaint will be screened for relevance, though new House rules may slow the process. The complainants' lawyer vowed to pursue the case, citing specific transfers of 200 million baht to the founder's husband and 300 million baht to personal accounts.
At 9:50 a.m. on November 5, 2026, at Parliament, Nang Bunyanuch Saengsri, owner of the "Oy Sree and Friends" page, accompanied by lawyer Thanakan Noipithak, submitted a letter to Phitak Dechdecho, Nakhon Si Thammarat MP from the Democrat Party and chair of the House Committee on Anti-Money Laundering and Narcotics Suppression, requesting an investigation into Bum Panadda Wongphudi and the Doing Good Foundation. The complainants said the matter is of great public importance and could serve as a major starting point for the country to improve oversight and prevent individuals from exploiting villagers' enthusiasm and Thai people's generosity for personal gain.
Phitak Dech stated the committee will refer the complaint to a screening subcommittee to determine whether it falls within the committee's core mandate. If relevant, the matter will be brought to a full meeting for further consideration. He emphasized that whether it is a foundation or association, any complaint received will be examined to see if funds were received legitimately and used according to the organization's stated objectives. He noted that many registered and unregistered associations in Thailand face problems because most receive money but do not use it for its intended purpose. The committee will summon all relevant parties to clarify facts, ensuring fairness to both complainants and the accused. The committee seeks cooperation and uses legal means; if cooperation is refused, legal summonses will be issued.
However, Phitak acknowledged that new regulations issued by House Speaker Sophon Saram regarding the committee's duties have caused delays in processing public complaints.
When asked what specific aspects the complaint wants investigated, lawyer Thanakan Noipithak said it stemmed from Nang Panadda holding a press conference mentioning Oy Sree and saying "investigate her followers to the end." Consequently, they filed a criminal complaint and will not withdraw it, as it involves a crime the state cannot compromise on. Today they believe a multi-dimensional investigation is necessary, hence the submission to the anti-money laundering committee. Even if there is overlap with other authorities, all dimensions must be examined, and it is fairly clear that money laundering is involved: a national organization received public donations but used them for personal benefit, which they believe requires decisive action.
The lawyer added the complaint includes details of a 200 million baht transfer to the husband and another 300 million baht moved into personal accounts. He stated that whoever is responsible must be punished, and if there was no corruption against fellow citizens, no false data entered into computer systems, and no conversion of assets derived from illegal acts, then money laundering charges would not apply.
