BANGKOK — HYROX Bangkok will return to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) from 13-16 August 2026, with organisers expecting more than 20,000 participants in what is set to be the largest HYROX event ever held in Bangkok and Asia. The fitness race drew 17,500 competitors in March, and registrations for the August event have already increased by 14%, surpassing 20,000 ahead of the closing date. To accommodate the growing demand, organisers have expanded the competition to four days for the first time. The Bangkok event will also serve as an official qualifier for the 2027 PUMA HYROX World Championships in Hong Kong, the first time the global championship will be hosted in the Asia-Pacific region. HYROX combines eight 1-kilometre runs with eight functional workout stations under a standardized race format used worldwide. Competitors can enter individual, doubles and relay categories, ranging from amateur to elite athletes. The event will also feature an Adaptive division for athletes with permanent physical disabilities, with around 20 competitors expected to take part. An official after-party, Station 9, will be held on 16 August at Tribe Sky Beach Club for athletes, supporters and members of the fitness community.

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Thongsri chaired the 9th meeting of the National Sports Development Fund management committee on July 23, approving the 2570 fiscal year budget framework for the first 10 sports associations and providing additional support for three associations participating in the Asian Games.

The meeting approved a total budget of 812 million baht distributed across four performance-based tiers. The highest tier, designated for very high-potential sports, allocated up to 35 million baht to weightlifting, while two associations in the high-to-moderate potential tier each received up to 8 million baht, and seven developing-potential associations received up to 2 million baht each. The remaining 80 of 90 registered sports associations were urged to submit their documentation and performance records to the fund office for future consideration according to established criteria.

D-Sports Stadium has opened its second location in Thailand at Central Northville, marking a significant expansion of the sportainment concept that blends sports with entertainment. The new 2,500-square-meter venue on the mall's third floor combines athletic facilities with entertainment activities, featuring over 30 different sports and recreational options designed to appeal to everyone from beginners to serious athletes. Highlights include AR Sports (HADO), baseball and pitching ranges, rock climbing, badminton, pickleball, basketball courts, sports arcade games, kid zones, party rooms, karaoke, and entertainment areas.

The venue was officially launched with celebrity actor and Muay Thai athlete Longlee, who emphasized that sports can transform people through improved health, discipline, and confidence. Longlee noted that D-Sports Stadium makes physical activity enjoyable and accessible without requiring prior experience. The concept, called "Share Fun, Find New," is designed so that people of all ages and abilities can discover sports they enjoy while spending quality time with family and friends.

Mr. Hiroshi Tanaka, operations director of TOA-PPICH Company Limited, stated that this location represents a major step in developing sportainment in Thailand. He emphasized that the venue is intended as more than just a fitness facility—it's a destination where people can spend time together through accessible and engaging activities that create new experiences with each visit. The company aims to establish a new culture of sports enjoyment that combines traditional athletics with cutting-edge AR technology, enabling visitors to find their own way of enjoying physical activity.

Rotthak Jitmuangnon's manager stated that the owner of Jitmuangnon Camp is his own uncle. He explained that when the manager joined, Rotthak was already famous and a big star, and the uncle had asked him to help during losses so the fighter could understand what it feels like to be criticized by society. The family decided to let him experience this first and then help him rise back to his former glory. The manager emphasized that while Rotthak has always won, everyone loses eventually—but the goal is not to see him defeated. Rather, when he did fall, the plan was to teach him how to stand back up with dignity and in a way that makes it harder for him to be knocked down again.

Over 200 residents from 12 subdistricts across four districts in Krabi and Phang Nga provinces filed an objection to the Thabruet-Krabi dual-track railway project on July 23, 2026, after learning their agricultural land and homes would be seized for the railway corridor. The project would affect approximately 2,000 rai of farmland and over 400 residential properties situated along the railway alignment.

The complainants petitioned the Prime Minister through the Krabi provincial governor, urging him to suspend the project because it lacks genuine economic merit, operates at a loss from inception, destroys agricultural areas, and provides poor value for public investment. They requested the government explore more suitable alternatives that do not require new land confiscation.

Most residents said they had little prior knowledge of the project before receiving meeting invitations in late June. Some faced particular hardship after recently completing new homes that now lie within the railway corridor, causing significant distress. The anticipated land compensation is insufficient to purchase replacement property in the densely settled area, where land prices far exceed the government's official valuation.

Furthermore, the 60-meter-wide railway corridor would severely impact farming operations in some cases, leaving residents with little usable agricultural land. The route also passes through forest and wetland areas, as well as a water source supplying over 2,000 residents in Ao Luk District.

On July 23, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed charges against Bitkub Online Limited and two former company directors with the Economic and Financial Crime Division for submitting false information to the SEC. The charges allege violations of the Digital Asset Business Act regarding the failure to accurately report the impact of a cyber attack that occurred in May 2021, which resulted in the theft of approximately 1.7 billion baht in customer digital assets across 16 different cryptocurrencies.

The SEC investigation found that Bitkub was attacked in May 2021 and customer digital assets were stolen from the exchange. Although Bitkub subsequently replaced the stolen assets starting October 31, 2021, the company failed to disclose this significant incident in its daily net liquidity fund reports submitted to the SEC between May 10 and October 30, 2021. This omission constitutes filing false statements in violation of the Digital Asset Business Act.

Former directors Sakolkroj Sarakwee and Thaweestrap Ravarun, who were responsible for submitting the required reports during the period of the cyber attack, have also been charged. Both men are additionally accused of making false statements in company documents with intent to deceive the SEC, falsely indicating that customer assets remained safely stored and unharmed. The SEC will now forward the case to prosecutors and the courts for investigation and adjudication. The SEC stated it will monitor the case's progress and fully cooperate with relevant agencies to enforce the Digital Asset Business Act.
