Pop star Ling Ling recently encountered an unexpected incident while attending events abroad. On September 14, she appeared at the Downy Luxe Sunway event as the brand's newest ambassador at Icon Siam Park 2 mall in Bangkok, where she opened up about the shocking theft that occurred at a Chinese venue.
According to Ling Ling, fraudsters posing as her team members broke into her dressing room and stole personal items, including autographed photographs. Fortunately, no valuable items were lost, and closed-circuit cameras captured images of the perpetrators. She has urged fans not to purchase any stolen merchandise from the thieves.
Despite the incident, Ling Ling announced that her fan concert has sold out two rounds, and she is training intensively to perform at full capacity. She joked about her dancing abilities, saying "I'm already a meme—no focus on looking pretty."
Ling Ling explained that the imposters likely posed as staff members regularly. "After we finish getting ready, we go to the event venue, which has a special room for us. During that time, they apparently dressed up as employees and entered the room to take something from us. I didn't know exactly what they wanted, but fortunately my team moved our bags out first," she said.
She added that the dressing room access was normally restricted to people wearing official crew badges. "This person just walked in, said he was from our team, asked for a badge, and entered. It was confusing, but we were lucky nothing of serious value was damaged."
The stolen items included personal photographs with her signature. "For fans, autographed photos from specific events are valuable, like lucky fan items. Some collectors keep them, but we can sign new ones. Every problem has a solution," Ling Ling remarked.
She advised taking preventive measures by carrying valuables on hand and being more cautious. Security personnel normally escort her at events, but this incident highlighted how sophisticated the thieves can be. Ling Ling asked fans to report any suspicious merchandise sales and noted that the organizers are pursuing legal action with the security footage from closed-circuit cameras showing the suspect trying to stuff a credential into his pocket.
"I was startled when I first heard something was missing, but I felt relieved once I learned nothing of significant value was lost. From now on, I'll be more careful," she said.
