A heartbroken mother discovered her two-month-old daughter dead in their home, with mucus discharge from the nose. The mother revealed the child had received vaccinations just five days earlier, after which the infant ran a fever continuously.
On September 15, police and rescue teams from Samut Prakan province investigated a report of an infant death at a residence in Ban Nam Phriao district. Officers found a two-month-old girl, identified by pseudonym as Girl A, dead in the middle of the house and covered with a towel. The 21-year-old mother sat nearby weeping and at times held her daughter's body while grieving.
When questioned, the mother disclosed that approximately five days before the death, she had taken her daughter to a local health station to receive vaccinations against whooping cough and tetanus. After returning home, the child began experiencing continuous discomfort, and both the mother and father also became ill with fever. Around 11 p.m., the mother fed the baby normally before bedtime.
Early the next morning, the mother woke to prepare breakfast for her husband and did not pay special attention to her sleeping child. After finishing cooking, she noticed something was wrong with the baby. When she picked up the infant, she found mucus-like fluid draining from the nose and the body was rigid. The child would not wake despite attempts to rouse her. The mother called her husband, and they discovered their daughter was no longer alive, prompting them to report the incident to authorities.
Initial examination by police and medical personnel found no external abnormalities on the child's body. The family and relatives expressed no suspicion about the cause of death and wished to proceed with Islamic funeral rites. While family information indicates the child became unwell following vaccination, authorities have not yet determined whether the vaccine was the cause of death.
