Over 4,000 Runners Complete Scenic Krabi Half Marathon
More than 4,000 runners completed the Scenic Krabi Half Marathon, the first Southern Thailand marathon with official World Athletics certification, featuring a scenic course through Krabi's coastal landscape.
The Scenic 1/2 Marathon Krabi 2026 attracted more than 4,000 runners from Thailand and abroad to experience a world-standard racing course in Southern Thailand amid stunning coastal scenery and the charm of Krabi province. The event stands out as the first Southern Thailand marathon to receive official World Athletics Road Race Label certification, confirming international competition standards on a route combining challenge, natural beauty, and Krabi's allure. Major sponsors including Prudential Life Insurance, Gatorade, Aquafina, aminoVITAL, and Counterpain supported the event to enhance standards and runner readiness throughout the course.
Races started at Krabi Provincial Sports Stadium (Ao Nang) and finished at Haad Noppharat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park across four distance categories. On Saturday, September 12, 2569, the beach run kicked off with a 5-kilometer race at 5:30 p.m. and a 3-kilometer race at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, September 13, featured a 21.1-kilometer half marathon starting at 4:30 a.m. and a 10-kilometer mini marathon at 5:00 a.m. The event included stage activities, Expo booths, Kahoot challenges, and southern traditional Nora dance performances reflecting local identity.
Organizer Alongkorn Jiamanukulkij oversaw a beach cleanup activity with sponsors, runners, and volunteers from Ban Ao Nang School from 4:00–4:30 p.m., reflecting the event's philosophy of not just viewing but protecting natural beauty. In the half marathon, Krzysztof Hadas from Poland won the men's overall title in 1:08:57, while Fridah Jepkoech from Kenya took the women's overall in 1:20:55. Thai champions were Intouch Jongjaijit (men, 1:11:02) and Piyanuch Sukchat (women, 1:24:57). The Scenic Marathon Series will continue with an upcoming venue in Chiang Mai.
