Python Found Coiled in Songthaew Engine, Rescued by Authorities
A python coiled up in a songthaew's engine near Chiang Thalay Temple in Phuket was safely removed by municipal rescue workers early September 15 after the worried taxi owner called for help.
A python slipped into a songthaew (shared taxi) in the middle of the night and coiled up in the engine compartment, prompting the worried owner to call rescue workers. On September 15, a Facebook user named Kittiya Bell Bokam posted video footage of officials from Chiang Thalay Subdistrict Municipality's disaster prevention and relief unit helping to catch the python that had crawled into the vehicle parked near Chiang Thalay Temple in Thalung District, Phuket. In the post, the vehicle owner wrote that a customer had boarded the songthaew around 1 a.m., and expressed concern that the snake might return and prevent them from sleeping, thanking the municipal prevention unit for helping to relocate the snake back to nature. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m., when the python was found coiled in the engine area of the songthaew, license plate 10-1252. Officials used ropes and specialized snake-catching equipment to safely extract the python from the vehicle and release it back into the wild.
