Thai excise authorities and police seized over 6,000 packs of IQOS tobacco and tens of thousands of e‑cigarette items, causing a tax loss of about 380,000 baht and facing fines of roughly 5.7 million baht. Nine suspects were charged under the Revenue Act for selling untaxed goods.
The Excise Department, in cooperation with police, seized 6,050 packs of IQOS tobacco, resulting in a tax loss of 379,940 baht and an estimated fine of 5.699 million baht. Nine suspects were charged under Section 204 of the Revenue Act for possessing untaxed goods for sale. In addition, authorities discovered approximately 91,616 e‑cigarettes, e‑liquids, and related devices; since e‑cigarettes are not listed in the excise‑tax schedule, those items were referred to the appropriate agencies for further action. The operation stemmed from proactive intelligence gathering, risk analysis, and joint inspections that expanded from Soi Somdet Phra Taksin 28 to a second commercial building in Bang Lamphu Lower, Khlong San district, where more contraband was found.
