Thai Figure Skater Hiro Wins Historic ISU Junior Grand Prix Medal
Thai figure skater Hiro Kaewtatthip, 15, won bronze at the ISU Junior Grand Prix Bangkok 2026, becoming the first Thai athlete to medal at an ISU Junior Grand Prix competition.
Hiro Kaewtatthip, a 15-year-old Thai figure skating prospect, has made history by winning a medal at the ISU Junior Grand Prix held in Thailand. The future of Thai figure skating claimed third place at the ISU Junior Grand Prix Bangkok 2026, becoming the first Thai athlete to win a medal at an ISU Junior Grand Prix competition.
The ISU Junior Grand Prix Bangkok 2026 took place on September 3-5 at the IWIS International Training Center, bringing together young figure skaters from around the world. Before this event, Hiro had boosted her confidence by winning the Asian championship. In the short program, Hiro made an excellent start by scoring 81.55 points, placing third. On the second day in the free skating program, Hiro scored another 147.96 points. Combined from both programs, the 15-year-old Hiro earned a total of 229.51 points and won the bronze medal in Thailand's home competition, also making history as the first Thai figure skater to win a medal at a Junior Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, five other Thai figure skaters competed in the event. In the men's category, Chawawit Chiyammahattrap placed 20th and Tharan Warasitthichay placed 26th. In the women's category, Patthratida Kaneshighe placed 15th, Thanapa Chumplukulvong placed 30th, and Sirinuttaya Mahittiwanich placed 31st.
