Actress Cherry Shares Running Journey, Dismisses Criticism
Actress Cherry Khamchumrus revealed she's intensified her fitness regimen after discovering her VO2 Max was only "good," progressing from running 1.5km to 5km without stopping in just six to seven weeks.
Actress Cherry Khamchumrus appeared at the Praew Awards 2026 ceremony at Siam Paragon's Nex Hall to discuss her recent commitment to serious running training. After a VO2 Max test showed her fitness at a "good" level, she decided to push harder and complement her regular tennis with dedicated running sessions.
Cherry explained her motivation: "When I got my VO2 Max results, I realized my fitness was only at 'good' level even though I've been exercising regularly. I felt I could do better." She noted that tennis provides cardio but includes frequent breaks, whereas continuous running has already shown dramatic progress. In just six to seven weeks, she improved from stopping at 1.5 kilometers to running five kilometers without a break.
When asked about her rapid improvement, Cherry recalled: "The first time I ran, they had me go 10 kilometers, but I stopped after two. I was exhausted and struggling. But when I completed a distance, it felt like a real achievement. Now people tell me I'm stronger—I can even chat while running, whereas before I couldn't catch my breath."
She said her growing love for running has also motivated dietary changes and overall fitness improvements. Her next goal is to run 10 kilometers without stopping, though she brushed off suggestions from friends to attempt a half-marathon or full marathon. "Not yet," she said. "I'm focusing on building strength, not pushing too hard. Running should make my body stronger, not punish it. The goal is health."
