The King and Queen attended the concert 'Opera Goes To Hollywood' performed by artists from the New York City Opera as part of celebrations marking the Queen's fourth cycle birthday in the 28th Bangkok International Theatre and Music Festival.
At 7:21 p.m. on September 5, 2026, the King and Queen departed from Amphorn Hall at Dusit Palace by royal motorcade to attend the concert 'Opera Goes To Hollywood' by the New York City Opera at the main auditorium of the Thailand Cultural Centre in the Huay Kwang district of Bangkok.
The event was held as part of the Queen's birthday celebrations during the 28th Bangkok International Theatre and Music Festival. Prasop Riangngern, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, and Jaspal Singh Uberoei, chairman of International Cultural Promotion Company Limited and organizer of the festival, received the royal guests.
After entering the auditorium, the King and Queen granted an audience to representatives Rapeepathra Lueangramrat and Thaapanee Kiatpaibuun, who presented ceremonial souvenirs. Uberoei then reported on the concert's purpose before the performance began.
The concert featured over 20 selections of classic opera music from legendary Hollywood films and popular opera pieces. After the performance, the King and Queen presented flowers to representatives of the performers before departing.
Opera Goes To Hollywood opened the 28th Bangkok International Theatre and Music Festival, which showcases diverse performing arts and music from renowned companies and artists worldwide, including opera, ballet, contemporary dance, symphony concerts, and musical theatre. The festival aims to establish Bangkok as a global centre for arts and culture.
The concert featured classic opera pieces from legendary Hollywood films such as The Godfather, Mission Impossible, and American Beauty. The New York City Opera, with over 80 years of history, performed with internationally acclaimed artists including sopranos Marnie Breckenridge, Tatev Baroyan, and Ekaterine Buachidze, violinist Asi Matathias, and cellist Kristina Reiko Cooper.
