Italian Embassy Condemns Student Tourists' Behavior, Apologizes to Thailand
Italy's embassy condemned inappropriate behavior by Italian student tourists in Thailand, publicly apologizing and emphasizing that their conduct does not represent Italian values or the strong friendship between the two nations.
The Italian Embassy in Bangkok released a statement condemning inappropriate behavior by Italian tourists—a group of young people who traveled to Thailand as part of a school educational program. The embassy expressed deep regret over the incident, documented in a video that circulated on social media, and offered a sincere apology to all Thai citizens and others troubled or concerned by the conduct. The embassy stressed that Italians recognize and respect Thai society's core values of respect for others, courtesy, and harmonious coexistence, which the Italian Republic equally cherishes. The statement made clear that the youths' inappropriate behavior does not reflect the broader Italian population or represent the values of mutual respect, friendship, and humble civility that underpin the long-standing relationship between Thailand and Italy.
