A legal dispute over alleged misappropriation of temple donation funds has been resolved through mediation at Ranong Provincial Court on August 15, 2569. Former abbot Phra Kru Phattharasorn of Wat Weluwvan temple in Kraburee District, Ranong Province, initially filed complaints against three fundraising committee members—Thanit Buakhaew, Pichay Ohnthes, and Suwit Chanthang—accusing them of embezzling 1,313,331.99 baht in donations from the 2567 robe-offering ceremony.

The three accused responded by countersuing the former abbot for filing false reports and defamation. The court initially accepted the false report charge but dismissed the defamation claim. When the case reached mediation on July 14, the former abbot acknowledged his misunderstanding after reviewing evidence. He confirmed that the three committee members had never used the funds for personal gain but had properly collected and spent the donations on constructing the temple's main chapel as intended. The former abbot publicly apologized to all three defendants and consented to allow them to use the court's findings to clarify the facts to the media and public.

With both sides reaching an understanding and the three plaintiffs agreeing to withdraw their lawsuit, the court approved the dismissal. Suwit Chanthang, who also serves as a local subdistrict council member, later stated that he and the other two committee members had had no contact with the former abbot regarding the matter and were significantly harmed by the false accusations, particularly during local election campaigning. The dispute has now been fully resolved through the court-mediated settlement.

Sports Minister Surasak Parnjaroenkul has expressed interest in partnering with the Thai Esports Federation (TESF) to organize esports competitions across multiple provinces to develop the skills of Thai players.

On August 15, Surasak and TESF president Santi Lohthong opened the Esports Championship 2026 at Ayutthaya Siam Square in Ayutthaya province. The competition is an international tournament featuring Thai national esports athletes competing against players from Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, and Singapore in Street Fighter 6 and eFootball Mobile, with a combined prize pool of 500,000 baht.

Minister Surasak stated that the tournament serves as preparation for Thai esports athletes ahead of next month's Asian Games in Nagoya. He emphasized that similar competitions will be held across different provinces to give local athletes opportunities to develop their skills in standardized competitions organized by TESF and the Thailand Sports Authority. This also opens the door for scouting additional athletes in the future.

On August 15, Pongsakorn Khuanmuang, spokesman for the Democratic Party, raised concerns about complaints from Border Patrol Police Division 1 officers in the Thai-Cambodian border area who have not received their daily meal allowance of 240 baht for five consecutive months, causing hardship for frontline officers and their families.

Numerical complaints from officers in other areas have also been mounting. Pongsakorn stated the Democratic Party is prepared to receive complaints from police nationwide, urging any officers facing salary delays or irregularities to report to the party.

He called on relevant agencies including the government, National Police Office, and Budget Bureau to urgently clarify why the budget is delayed, where the bottleneck exists, or whether there has been mismanagement. Fishermen in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are advised to navigate with caution and avoid thunderstorm areas, while small vessels in the upper Andaman should remain ashore during this period.
