Jemine Brings New Talent Nika to GMMTV

Jemine has brought Nika Natthanitcha into GMMTV as a new talent, saying he feels like he's almost become a talent manager. Nika will hold her first solo concert with surprise guest appearances from artists outside GMMTV. At an event launching the Infallible Laque Resistance Nude Edition Cafe at Siam Square One, Jemine explained that Nika consulted him about finding new directions in entertainment, having tried almost everything else. He advised her on what to expect from the industry and introduced her to GMMTV management. Jemine joked that he nearly acts as her personal manager but cannot discuss details due to confidential projects. He is pleased that Nika, like him, is a L'Oreal Paris Brand Ambassador. When asked if Nika experienced culture shock at GMMTV, Jemine said she was surprised but adapting quickly and was still shy. He now serves as a mentor to her, though work inquiries now go through GMMTV rather than directly to him. Jemine has been heavily rehearsing both the concert and his role in "Love of Siam," recently finishing script readings and starting workshops covering singing, acting, and dancing. He is prioritizing the concert since it is coming sooner but is trying to prepare for both simultaneously. Regarding his first solo concert, Jemine feels pressured to deliver high quality work and to develop and surprise audiences with each concert. He revealed the concert will feature around 40 songs, including over 10 of his own compositions, plus new musical styles, previously unheard guest collaborations, and new instruments. The budget has reached millions, using the full allocated amount and even exceeding it slightly. There will be numerous guest appearances; because it is a solo concert, he cannot be on stage the entire time, so other artists will join him for certain songs. Some guests are new collaborators he has never worked with publicly. Some fans have correctly guessed some guest artists, but he will not confirm which predictions are accurate. Overall, while the concert preparation is exhausting, Jemine is happy to be working so hard, as most of his previous concerts have been duets or group performances. He is confident that the team's vision and planning will come together successfully.

Police Dismantle International Online Gambling Network With 11 Brands

Police Dismantle International Online Gambling Network With 11 Brands
3d ago Khaosod

The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau has penetrated a cloud database system and dismantled a major cross-border online gambling network operating 11 prominent brands, with investigators discovering monthly transaction flows exceeding 100 million baht. On August 15, 2026, officers under the command of Lieutenant General Nattasak Chaunasai and Major General Tatsaphummi Charuprutchaya executed an arrest operation in a residence in Samphran District, Nakhon Pathom Province, apprehending Chalisa (surname withheld), age 29, on charges of promoting and soliciting participation in unlicensed online gambling operations and facilitating illegal gambling platforms.

During investigation, authorities discovered that the network employed sophisticated identity-concealment technology including Cloudflare and Cloud VPN services, with no physical servers located in any single jurisdiction. Instead, the operation leased virtual servers on cloud systems, making it difficult to track the controllers. However, cyber investigators were able to trace through the cloud infrastructure to identify the system controller, obtain court-authorized search warrants, and locate Chalisa at the residence.

Chalisa was found to serve as a "super admin"—a critical node in the network—with authority to approve deposit and withdrawal transactions in both Thai baht and cryptocurrency, and overseeing the backend systems of up to 11 online gambling brands offering comprehensive gambling services including live casino, slots, baccarat, card games, sports betting, and online lottery. Transaction data analysis revealed the network processed an average daily circulation of no less than 5 million baht, or over 100 million baht per month, with customer recruitment conducted through social media advertising.

During interrogation, Chalisa confessed that she previously worked in hospitality services in Poipet, Cambodia, before applying for an admin position through a Facebook page in October 2025. She was then sent for training at the OKVIP building, a seven-story structure in Poipet employing over 100 staff involved in online gambling operations. Chalisa underwent more than four months of training followed by a two-month trial period to learn systems across multiple departments including IT, marketing, deposit-withdrawal transactions, account management, cash withdrawal, and risk control or audit functions, eventually gaining the ability to control backend systems for multiple gambling websites simultaneously. She received a monthly salary plus commission of no less than 30,000 baht, along with compensation in USDT digital currency transferred to her personal digital wallet.

Following Cambodia's intensified crackdown on online gambling operations in February 2026, senior leadership assigned Chalisa to return to Thailand to control and manage the network's systems and customer database operations.

Temple Donation Dispute Settled in Ranong Court
3d ago Khaosod

A legal dispute over alleged misappropriation of temple donation funds has been resolved through mediation at Ranong Provincial Court on August 15, 2569. Former abbot Phra Kru Phattharasorn of Wat Weluwvan temple in Kraburee District, Ranong Province, initially filed complaints against three fundraising committee members—Thanit Buakhaew, Pichay Ohnthes, and Suwit Chanthang—accusing them of embezzling 1,313,331.99 baht in donations from the 2567 robe-offering ceremony.

The three accused responded by countersuing the former abbot for filing false reports and defamation. The court initially accepted the false report charge but dismissed the defamation claim. When the case reached mediation on July 14, the former abbot acknowledged his misunderstanding after reviewing evidence. He confirmed that the three committee members had never used the funds for personal gain but had properly collected and spent the donations on constructing the temple's main chapel as intended. The former abbot publicly apologized to all three defendants and consented to allow them to use the court's findings to clarify the facts to the media and public.

With both sides reaching an understanding and the three plaintiffs agreeing to withdraw their lawsuit, the court approved the dismissal. Suwit Chanthang, who also serves as a local subdistrict council member, later stated that he and the other two committee members had had no contact with the former abbot regarding the matter and were significantly harmed by the false accusations, particularly during local election campaigning. The dispute has now been fully resolved through the court-mediated settlement.

Border Police Unpaid for Five Months, Spokesman Calls for Probe
3d ago Khaosod

On August 15, Pongsakorn Khuanmuang, spokesman for the Democratic Party, raised concerns about complaints from Border Patrol Police Division 1 officers in the Thai-Cambodian border area who have not received their daily meal allowance of 240 baht for five consecutive months, causing hardship for frontline officers and their families.

Numerical complaints from officers in other areas have also been mounting. Pongsakorn stated the Democratic Party is prepared to receive complaints from police nationwide, urging any officers facing salary delays or irregularities to report to the party.

He called on relevant agencies including the government, National Police Office, and Budget Bureau to urgently clarify why the budget is delayed, where the bottleneck exists, or whether there has been mismanagement. The missing monthly allowance of approximately 7,200 baht per officer is not merely a budget figure but essential funds for food, school fees, and household expenses.

"It is unacceptable that border officers must use their own money to buy food while performing dangerous duties," the Democratic Party spokesman said. "Border police need to eat and have expenses just like officers at the National Police Office and Government House."

Thai police and Chulalongkorn University held a cybersecurity awareness seminar titled "Cyber Vaccine" for approximately 1,200 new students on August 15, 2025. The program aimed to educate young people about online crimes affecting children, youth, and families, while offering practical self-protection strategies against cyber fraud. Police officers and community liaison officers who attended will share the knowledge with schools, communities, and residents in their areas.

Deputy National Police Chief Wasant Techaachai disclosed that from late last year through July and early August 2025, student victims in the Pathumwan, Bang Rak, Yanawa, and Suthisarn police jurisdictions numbered 23, with combined losses exceeding 24 million baht. He likened the cybersecurity education campaign to a vaccine during the Covid pandemic, stating that arrest and prevention alone are insufficient. Techaachai called for Chulalongkorn students and staff to serve as role models to prevent similar incidents nationwide, emphasizing that victims suffer not only financial loss but severe psychological harm. He noted that engineering and medical students have been hit hardest and urged all attendees to share this knowledge with family and friends to raise awareness about online crime threats and prevention measures.

Heavy Rain Warning Issued Across Thailand
3d ago Khaosod

The Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall in scattered areas across Thailand over the next 24 hours due to a monsoon trough passing through Myanmar, northern Laos, and a low-pressure system over northern Vietnam, combined with strong southwest monsoon winds affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Residents are warned to be cautious of dangers from heavy rainfall and accumulated water, which may cause flash floods, flash runoff, and overflowing banks, particularly in hillside areas near water channels and low-lying zones. Northern Thailand faces 60 percent thunderstorm coverage with heavy rain in provinces including Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Lampun, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun, with temperatures between 22–28 degrees Celsius minimum and 32–36 degrees maximum and southwest winds at 10–20 km/hour.

The northeast region similarly experiences 60 percent thunderstorm coverage with heavy rain in Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani, with temperatures between 24–26 degrees minimum and 32–35 degrees maximum. The central region shows 40 percent thunderstorm coverage in Lopburi, Saraburi, and Kanchanaburi with temperatures between 23–27 degrees minimum and 34–36 degrees maximum. The eastern region faces 60 percent thunderstorm coverage in Nakhon Nayok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chanthaburi, and Trat with temperatures between 25–28 degrees minimum and 31–34 degrees maximum and winds at 20–35 km/hour.

For the southern region, the west coast (Ranong and Phang Nga) expects 60 percent thunderstorm coverage with heavy rain, while temperatures range from 24–28 degrees minimum to 32–35 degrees maximum. From Phuket northward, southwest winds reach 20–40 km/hour with sea waves 2–3 meters high, exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms. From Krabi southward, winds are 15–35 km/hour with waves 1–2 meters high, exceeding 2 meters during storms. Bangkok and surrounding areas face 60 percent thunderstorm coverage with temperatures between 27–29 degrees minimum and 33–35 degrees maximum.

Fishermen in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are advised to navigate with caution and avoid thunderstorm areas, while small vessels in the upper Andaman should remain ashore during this period.
