A 23-year-old police officer working as a security guard at Bangkok's Lad Prao nightclub has become the 39th victim of the July fire, succumbing to severe injuries after a month in hospital care.

The death toll from the Lad Prao nightclub fire on the night of July 12, 2025, has risen to 39 victims. Second Lieutenant Thanakorn Phetthong, 23, a unit commander with the Special Operations Command (a police commando unit), died at 9:44 a.m. on August 15, 2025, at the Police Hospital's trauma ICU after continuous treatment for severe injuries sustained in the fire.

Thankakorn was working as a security guard at the venue at the time of the incident. His body was found in the main hall near the second emergency exit before being rushed to the hospital. However, due to the severity of his injuries, doctors were unable to save his life.

The Special Operations Command and related agencies will announce further details regarding religious rites, victim assistance programs, and family benefits in due course. Police have also announced that they will prosecute the nightclub owner on five serious charges.
