Kasetsart University and the Corrections Department have signed a memorandum of understanding to improve medical services, public health, and behavioral development for inmates on a sustainable basis. The ceremony was held at Kasetsart University's Bangkok campus, with Justice Minister General Rutpol Naorat and Permanent Secretary Piyasiri Wattanwarangkul in attendance. University rector Kongsak Thiengtham and Corrections Department Director General Prawut Wongsini signed the agreement, with witnesses including Associate Professor Montol Thanuttamvongse, Vice Rector for Academic and Lifelong Learning Affairs; Associate Professor Chumpol Piyamsomboon, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Yutthana Nakarueangsi, Deputy Director of the Corrections Department; and Pongsapat Ariyaphinant, Director of the Corrections Hospital Prison.
The collaboration focuses on three main objectives: upgrading sanitation and quality of life in prisons; applying knowledge and technology to improve prison management efficiency and develop staff expertise; and providing skill and knowledge transfer to inmates to develop their behavior and prepare them for successful reintegration into society.
