Labor Minister Rejects Calls to Nullify Social Security Board Election
Labor Minister Chulaphon Amornvivath said that moves to annul the recent Social Security Board election are not being considered and that politicians encouraging people to vote have done nothing wrong. He noted voter turnout rose by roughly 500–600% and that no formal complaints have been filed, adding that the election is proceeding according to law.
During a phone interview on the Inside Thailand program, Chulaphon dismissed allegations of political interference in the Social Security Board election, stressing that the election process is proceeding according to law and that minor errors would not affect the outcome. He explained that checking candidates’ political ties is routine, but merely being a party member or having politicians encourage voter participation is not prohibited. He also said any similarity between the Progressive Social Security team’s policies and a political party stems from shared labor‑worker ideals, not from political linkage.
