Kanchai Urges Karting Organizers to Speak Out Over Engine Controversy
Television host Kanchai criticized the karting controversy involving the son of celebrities Chompoo Araya and Not Wisarut, saying the child’s kart used an outdated 2014 engine while rivals used 2026 models. He urged the DT Motorsport mechanic to apologize if they were at fault and called on event organizers to clarify the situation quickly, warning that silence is unfair to the children. After speaking with both Chompoo and Por, Kanchai said he believes the parents were unaware of the engine issue and only came to cheer for their child.
Kanchai shared his personal opinion on why the karting issue has become such a big deal, saying he has spoken with both Chompoo Araya and Por, and believes they only went to cheer for their children without knowing the details. He urged the DT Motorsport mechanic to come forward and apologize if they acted incorrectly, and called on event organizers not to stay silent, as it would be unfair to all the children involved. The controversy erupted on social media after Phayu, the son of Chompoo Araya and Not Wisarut, won the CADET B kart race for ages 8‑9, while it was discovered that his kart used a 2014 engine while the other 20 competitors used 2026 engines. Kanchai said on his midday news program that the mechanic must speak clearly and apologize if wrong, and that organizers should quickly clarify the situation, noting that the children and their parents knew nothing and were only there to cheer. He added that if the DT Motorsport mechanic knew the engine was not allowed and still used it, they should admit fault and apologize on behalf of the family. Kanchai also read a comment suggesting that officials had been told to look the other way, which would amount to cheating, and questioned how he could know the parents were unaware, noting they might have discussed it privately. He reiterated that after speaking with both Chompoo and Por, he is convinced they did not know about the engine issue, with Por stating he believes both Not and Chompoo were unaware. Kanchai suggested the controversy blew up because Por, linked to the earlier Tangmo case, is now viewed skeptically, and that if the situation involved a different person or a less famous child, it would have been perceived differently. He concluded that, speaking frankly, he believes behind the scenes there is no wrongdoing, and that the matter should be resolved quickly for the sake of the kids.
