Kart Racer Apologizes, Demands Rematch After Rival's Illegal Engine Protest
Por Tanupat publicly apologized to fellow racers Nott and Chompu after protesting the legality of rival Nong Phayu’s winning kart in the TrueVisions Championship 2026 Cadet B class. He accused the kart builder and inspectors of using an illegal 2014 engine, demanding a rematch under identical equipment and calling for accountability. Por also praised Phayu’s driving talent while urging fairness and expressing regret for the distress caused.
Por Tanupat described Nong Phayu as a highly skilled driver with excellent lines, noting that he often outperformed Por’s own son and could become Thailand’s first generation of racing stars. He apologized to Phayu’s family if his questioning of the kart’s legality caused them distress, and asked Nott, Chompu, and all fans for forgiveness. Por stressed the need for fairness and equality, explaining that he was not the first to protest but followed up after hearing others’ concerns, and that he wanted his son to finish second in the race. He accused DT Motorsports of illegally modifying the engine, and faulted the inspectors for missing the discrepancy, pointing out that the engine in question was from 2014 while the other karts used new 2026 units. Por demanded responsibility from the kart‑building team and the event organizers, noting that the inspectors came from the Royal Thai Automobile Association bearing the FIA logo and should have known the engine was illegal. He insisted that Nong Phayu, nor his parents, had tampered with the engine themselves. Por expressed deep sadness, reflected on his own past controversies, and urged viewers to examine their own feelings. He admitted fault for involving a superstar, regretted seeing Phayu cry, and mentioned that his own son was also affected.
