Man, 64, Shoots Noodle Shop Owner Dead at Dawn Market
A 64-year-old man shot and killed a noodle shop owner at a dawn market in Lopburi Province on September 3, then died at the scene while still holding a firearm. Police say the two men had a long-standing dispute over debt.
At 9 p.m. on September 3, 2569, Ek Withit Thongphoom, an investigator at Muang Lopburi Police Station, received a report of two fatal shootings at Sarakaew Dawn Market in Thalachupsri Subdistrict, Muang District, Lopburi Province. He notified his superiors and proceeded to the scene with Pol. Col. Yarriyong Santhiprichwattana, Lopburi Provincial Police Commander, and Pol. Lt. Col. Ranrong Suratdet, Inspector of Muang Lopburi Police Station.
At the noodle shop inside the dawn market, one body was found behind the shop. The deceased was the shop owner, identified as Mr. A (pseudonym), 61 years old. Approximately 20 meters away, a second body was discovered. This was the shooter, identified as Mr. B (pseudonym), 64 years old, who was still holding a firearm. A search revealed three additional magazines in his trouser pockets and another gun at his waist, for a total of two guns.
Initial investigation revealed that the two men had frequently quarreled over a long-standing debt. Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation. The bodies have been handed over to a foundation and will be sent to the Forensic Institute for further examination.
