On September 3, 2026, at Tha Ruea Police Station, senior police officials including Police Lieutenant General Siam Bunsomsi, the acting Bangkok Metropolitan Police commissioner, convened an emergency meeting with officers from multiple precincts to address the youth gang violence. The meeting followed a mass brawl in the Khlong Toey area on August 30 involving two rival groups: one with 11 members from communities near Wat Saphan and Soi Rong Moo under Tha Ruea Police jurisdiction, and another with 17 members from the Onnuch area under Phra Khanong Police jurisdiction. Investigators found that homemade explosives were thrown at Tha Thrai Dam and an old railway line on August 29 starting at 12:10 a.m.
Lieutenant General Siam ordered an accelerated investigation using CCTV footage to identify all suspects and pursue full charges against them and their guardians for permitting minors to engage in violence. The police commissioner instructed patrols to establish mobile checkpoints in high-risk areas during appropriate times, deploy SWAT and rapid-response units to conduct sweeps and raids in targeted communities, and conduct X-ray screening of known troublemakers to detect weapons and explosives.
