Police Arrest 10 Teenagers in Bangkok Gang Shooting
Police arrested 10 teenagers in Bangkok after they shot and wounded a rival gang member during a street confrontation that started with a social media challenge.
On September 7, officers led by Lieutenant Colonel Porchai Wong Prasertkar and Lieutenant Colonel Yuranun Phet Manee from Bang Khae Police Station, working with Region 2 investigators, arrested 10 male teenagers aged 15-18 and seized one homemade pen-gun pistol, one blank-fire gun, and four motorcycles.
The incident began around 1:30 a.m. on September 7 when Bang Khae Police radio dispatch received a report of teenagers firing weapons with injuries near Soi Phloen Chit 48 in Bang Khae district, Bangkok. At the scene, officers found a 17-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the upper buttock area, who was transported to hospital.
After reviewing CCTV footage, investigators identified the perpetrators. Police coordinated with parents to bring all 10 teenagers in voluntarily along with the weapons used.
Upon questioning, the teenagers admitted to chasing and attacking a rival group after issuing a social media challenge. They had arranged to meet near Sukaphiban Road 5, where the rival group showed up with approximately 10 members. A chaotic brawl ensued with ping-pong bombs being thrown, prompting the rivals to flee on motorcycles. The teenagers pursued them and fired weapons near Soi Phloen Chit 48, striking one member.
All 10 teenagers have been referred to Bang Khae Police Station for further legal proceedings under the direction of Region 2 Police Commander Pol. Major General Kiatakul Sandhinern.
