Man Arrested For Beating Pregnant Wife And Mother-In-Law
A 37-year-old man was arrested in Udon Thani after beating his pregnant teenage wife and her mother, leaving both with severe facial injuries during an attack at their home.
At 6:30 p.m. on July 3, 2569, police in Mueang Udon Thani received a report of a man assaulting his wife and mother-in-law, both with severe facial injuries, in a lane in Ban Chan subdistrict. Officers and rescue volunteers quickly arrived at the scene.
They found a 17-year-old woman, identified as Ms. Maid (pseudonym), with a swollen face holding her 6-month-old son, alongside her 33-year-old mother, Ms. Nee (pseudonym), also with facial injuries but more severe, with bleeding from her left ear. Local officials and residents administered first aid. The suspect, 37-year-old Mr. Man, the woman's husband, fled the scene but was apprehended by police 500 meters away.
Mr. Man confessed to punching his wife and mother-in-law after waking up and not finding them at home. He assumed they had fled to the mother's house and followed them there. When the mother-in-law threatened to report him for taking a minor, he said he lost control and struck them. He admitted to being unemployed but earning money by fishing and selling the catch. He acknowledged using methamphetamine once three days prior and drinking alcohol daily, accepting full responsibility for his actions.
Ms. Maid stated she is regularly beaten by her husband without provocation, even while holding their child. Her mother confirmed her daughter was severely attacked, forcing her to flee home with the baby. They were gathering firewood when her son-in-law arrived and continuously punched her daughter's face.
Police took both victims to the hospital and detained Mr. Man, pressing charges for assault and drug possession while continuing the investigation.
