Man Arrested for Hiring Girlfriends to Transport Methamphetamine
Police arrested a 34-year-old man accused of hiring his two girlfriends to transport large quantities of methamphetamine across northern Thailand. The girlfriends were caught in August and September with over 200,000 and nearly 400,000 yaba pills respectively. Although he denied knowledge, authorities said LINE chat messages provided strong evidence of his involvement.
On October 11, 2026, Pol. Lt. Gen. Arun Wachirasrisukunya of the Provincial Police Bureau directed Pol. Col. Aphichon Khan-ka of Provincial Police Bureau Division 4 and Pol. Lt. Col. Piboon Pimphumibid to arrest Jiraphong, alias Palm, aged 34, at Bangkok’s Central Station. He was detained under a warrant issued by Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Court on September 23, 2026, for conspiracy to commit drug offenses and possession of Category 1 methamphetamine with intent to sell.
Investigations revealed that in August officers arrested a woman driving a white Honda Civic in Kamphaeng Phet Province, seizing 291,800 yaba tablets hidden in the vehicle. In September another operation stopped a bus and arrested a male-female pair carrying 399,800 yaba tablets.
Further inquiry showed Jiraphong had arranged both shipments, hiring his girlfriends to transport the drugs. He claimed he had two girlfriends—one in Krabi and one in Chiang Rai—and said the Chiang Rai girlfriend visited him in Krabi before they boarded a bus together with a friend, leading to the September seizure. In the August case, he said he had rented a car in Chiang Rai which his girlfriend drove into town, resulting in that seizure.
Jiraphong insisted he knew nothing about the drugs and denied all charges, but investigators pointed to incriminating LINE chat messages that tied him to the operations. He was transferred to the investigators at Phanom Sarakham Police Station for further legal processing.
